Hey guys

Ive got a 3076R on a rb25 with all supporting mods,

6boost, plasmaman, fmic etc

Struggles to make any more than 360rwhp on 18 psi due to pressure drop

It is seeing 24 psi before the intercooler and only 18 psi at the inlet manifold.

its a chinese intercooler, 600X300X76

Ive had a search already

looking for an intercooler that won't pose as much restriction

have had a quick search...

I think i'm after a 600X300X100

what do you guys normally recommend/use

Looking for an intercooler that doesn't pose much of a restriction/ reasonable cooling properties

any body using the jjr intercoolers?

It may just be a cheap design, what size are the inlet and outlet pipes?

This is the same size but might be better? dunno, i just wanna see what people respond to your q.

Have a look around on Just Jap, they prob got what you want.

You dont neccesarily need a bigger cooler - just a better one that doesnt have a cheap ass core inside it that doesnt flow.

There are plenty on the market, just comes down to your budget.

I got the jjr return style cooler and im pushing 307kw and its not acting as a restriction but I would imagine the bar and plate core will be the same quality just different pipe configuration.

yer ive got a cheap arse one xd

3 inch in 3 inch out

I'm leaning towards the 999 automotive "kls power spirit" 4 inch core, 600 X 300 X 100

apparently they flow well, the guy at the shop guarantee's that at 30psi there is only 2psi pressure drop.

sounds like they might be the one,

anybody used one of these?

you dont need a 100mm thick intercooler for that sort of power.

A decent quality 76mm core will be fine. The thing im guessing from your setup is that your core is not flowing well (as said above) and therefore creates a restriction. Now your boost signal for your boost controller or wastegate is most likely taken from your hot side (turbo side) of your intercooler so its boosting to 24 psi as it is seeing on that side. however it is hitting 24psi due to a restriction in the intercooler which is all of a sudden non existant after the outlet so the air can flow nicely into the engine, and theres your 18psi.

Ive never heard of anyone needing a 100mm core to hit 300ish rwkw, I mean if thats what you want to do then go for it

but remember, Quality over quantity ;)

Noel runs a cooling pro from Justjap at 550hp at the wheels - pretty sure it's only 76m. Gervase runs a Nismo 100mm.

PWR make good quality stuff for the Skylines. I used to get 1psi pressure drop in mine at 26psi at those power levels but it's the old vertical core design. I don't think you can get them any more

awesome, i'll have a chat with noel tomorrow.

if i can get away with just a 76mm, that would ease with space

just jap cooling pro could also do the job.

yes my china cheapie is restricting it =[ not flowing too well.

btw dano cheers for the egt's, they are working a treat! what bear do you drink?

np mate. Yeah ask Noel what he runs (it was already in when I got the car) it has no dramas.

I don't drink bear or beer. Scotch is my poison but it is not necessary. All in the good will help others thing I got goin on

threw on the kls powerspirit (999 automotive) intercooler, 4 inch core

Bolted in sweet without even having to touch my front bar or reo.

intercooler definitely looked alot better than the one i had on. the fins on the inside where the air flows through only had a 5mm path to go through.

vs the 10mm or so for the kls power spirit

btw dano i pulled apart that tial 44mm gate.

had a small blue spring (rated 7.252 psi) and a large red spring (rated 10.153 psi)

with this combination it was originally running about 22 then creeping to 24 psi

removed the small blue spring. Now running the large red spring only now it hits 15 psi and creeps to 17 psi

Yeah the large red was the one we added before he sold that kit. Did you notice I changed one of those wastegate bolts to a longer one to make it easier to get the cap back on?

We changed it on the car, did you do the same or remove it?

If you get the chance, to make things easier, get an exhaust shop to weld in a flexible bellows in 1-3/4 inch for the gate, it will make it so much easier to put on if you ever need to

first thing i noticed before i put the thing on was that longer bolt

came in handy i changed it on the car with a bit of elbow grease. using the longer cap headed bolt to get it started and bring it home

thats a handy idea,

had to modify the original dump that i got to the point that the only thing left of it was the dump of the turbo aswell as the front half of the plumback return for the wastegate.

sits like a beauty now tho!

new diaphragm in the gate? never thought you could buy parts for these

seems like you've already bought one now but for me, 70mm ARC core would have done nicely, they are light, low pressure drop and allow good airflow over the core through to the radiator too which is something not many makers consider.

seems alrite so far, throttle respose definitely improved

i did notice that the thing was heavy and a bit awkward to mount up for one person.

she weighed at least 12 or so kg

find out the result tmrw

yeah, ARC 70mm coolers weigh 4kgs..... something to think about! especially when that weight is right up the nose of the car where you least want it. their 70mm GTR cores are actually lighter than the standard 60mm GTR cooler. the chinese cores are super heavy. just like the chinese radiators... feel the weight of a aftermarket chinese alloy radiator vs a stock calsonic radiator. the difference is startling.

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
