how are you fellow members?

I have changed to twin Z32's on my RB26 and am running a PFC, and it is hard to start and dosent run the best,

Dose any one know how to change basic settings on the power fc via the hand controller..

or

Is there any way i can run only one z32 air flow meter and somehow brige or cancel out the other?

Thanx for all the help in advance

well for starters select VG30 AFM as the airflow meters. but really you need to get it tuned mate. and no don't just run a single one. you then can only measure half as much airflow. why did you change to them if you don't need their higher airflow measuring potential???

hey thanx for the interest and reply,

i have just upgraded to a bigger single turbo, and just changed to twin z32's because i thought i needed them, but it looks as if i dont so since i have already wired them up i have decided to leave them, so the car dosent run the best at the moment, and also as i am batteling for space i thought it would be a good idea to run one z32 instead of two, i have searcherd the net and have found a few people who make close to 500kw with a single z32, dont know how true that is but it is moore power than what i am intending to make.

thanks for the help any help is welcomed......

They make 500rwkw because they split the signal (effectively half, so 250rwkw x2).

Can be done of course but not ideal by any means.

What turbo do you have?

Other supporting mods?

Sounds like you've been fed some bad advice overall mate

this is the pipe you need for twin Z32 on big single application, made by trust, very nice piece of kit

http://www.nengun.com/trust-greddy/suction-pipe

then on the powerfc as the others have said read the PFC FAQ

in a pinch you can choose VG30 and it should run and idle OK

if you are still having issues with VG30 selected view ETC, SENSOR SW CHECK on the hand controller and check out the values for AF-1 and AF-2 - they should be very similar and no black highlight

thanx guys i will post up a pic of my engine bay soon..

I have a blitz K28 turbo, 1100cc injectors, coolers of all sorts, stg1 cams, custom head oil return to the sump, i dont have the head restrictors as i have read bad things about them, i will post a pic up for you guys soon..

thanks for the help..

hahhaah i have talked to a few reputable shops that i dont want to name and they have explained the fors and against, but thats not the topic at the moment heheh,

so in all your experiance guys what power do you think a sinlge z32 afm can cope with?

How do you figure that?

You can't even see where the Z32 line goes :(

Clearly factory RB26 runs out sooner than both Z32/Nismo, but everyone already knows stock GTR AFM's run outta resolution around 300rwkw and Z32's can do more.

The Z32 basically reports the same voltage as the Nismo AFM after 500kg/hour.

The stock AFM hits 5 volts (ie max voltage) at just over 700kg/hour or about 26lb/min in old speak (which aligns with turbo maps). In the olden days (When I went to uni) the rule of thumb was 1 lb/min of airflow = 10 horsepowers. Which ties in pretty well with your number.

You can measure the AFM voltage off your PFC hand controller which then tells you (With reference to the curve) your airflow. Then go to the turbo map, match the airflow & the boost & you have the duty point for the turbo.

i meant when you said a single Z32 measures a lot less than 26 AFMs.

I'm confused!

Yeah I see what you mean. Depends on how you extrapolate the line I guess. Looking at it again there is probably not much in it.

I guess it doesnt matter much anyway as the PFC is looking for 2 AFM's.

nismoid. I believe he means a SINGLE Z32 AFM will not outflow your standard TWIN RB26 afms. so he's saying why bother going to a single Z32 when you could just have kept your twin standards afms. am I close?

A single Z32 will measure more than stock 26 twins though...

If;

- the assumption that RB26 nismos have the same response to Z32s, and

- the graph is correct

Then no, it wont. However, I doubt that RB26 nismos will respond the same as Z32s since the the Z32s are larger in diameter - it doesnt matter that they have the same guts (hotwire and electrics), the air speed will be a lot less due to the diameter. I'm just guessing of course.

FWIW http://paulr33.com/ has the rates as;

Single Z32 AFM 350rwkw

Twin RB26 AFMs 300rwkw

Twin Z32 AFMs 511rwkw

NFI why 2 x 300 = 511.....

I was just going by the graphs. So there is a fair chance I have it wrong. It depends on how you extrapolate the Z32 curve or even if it runs above the 4.25V shown.

It may be worth checking my PFC to see what the maximum AFM output voltage was to get an idea of how it relates to RWHP.

Nismoid: out of interest how many horsepowers do you reckon a Z32 is good for?

Stabby: I see what you mean - either 2*300=511 or the 300 or the 500 is wrong????

those stats are very wrong and outdated in my FAQ

FYI apexi list them as;

80m RB25 airflow meter can measure up to approx. 300ps (221kW)

80mm VG30 airflow meter can measure up to approx. 500ps (368kW)

90mm VH41 airflow meter can measure up to approx. 400ps (294kW)

*Output is calculated off of measurable air volume

they dont list RB26 std but i think twin Rb26 std max just over 300rwkw

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
