sad to hear about the dramas with the car, which one?

mine is stuck on full blast heat no matter what i do, got a liitle hot today with the rain preventing me from doing the usual arm out the window relief.

that'll teach me for letting a mate install my new stereo head unit :(

anyway went for a blast up to the lookout today with 2 black skylines, looked pretty sweet, even got in for free with the inclement weather. bonus!

stopped raining by 330 pm and only started again about 420 when we took off again, nice roads but not that twisty, most of its off camber sweepers which is just fine with me. Got back to town hall just after five pm

will post pics after i can be arsed to go back downstairs to the car and get the camera :P

Was a shame this cruise was cancelled. Weather was atrocious coming up from south, sheets of water everywhere caused my car to drift alot. Was a bit scary at times.

On Heathcote road we passed a truck which lost control and drove half way up an embankment on opposite side of the road.

Cancelling was probably the best call made. Being overly precarious to stay safe in the rain and avoiding shit on the road would have taken the buzz away from the whole event.

I'm sure this will be rescheduled pretty soon. And hopefully will be a nice sunny day like the last cruise to kangaroo valley. :worship:

we got at the meet point and then checked here and saw it was canceled :( weather on the way home was seriously terrible!

Saw a few cars there, cruised with BOO5TN i think it was on the way there..

Yeah was out at the meet point around 1.40pm met Cassbo? I think? And another guy in a silver 33 GTR and another guy in a light blue V35.. Think i saw hamiltonau's car in the carpark opposite a black R33 too, weather was absolutely shocking on the way back to the city, going over the harbour bridge I had water coming through the seals of my windows!

Did seem like the best decision to cancel, vision was fine but traction wasn't the greatest in some areas, even with near new tyres.. Oh well, next time!

i saw hamiltonau's car in the carpark opposite a black R33

yup that was me and lovely guy in the black 33 but as usual i forget his name, we met 'hicas' in the cafe with some couple in a ..skyline of some kind. i have a shitty memory for names sorry. anyway all had a great chat, u should have checked in. i think u texted me meeting at central too eiresgaus?

soft.... i ran natio and mac pass tonight in the rain !

dam floods at mac pass....

Mac Pass was closed earlier this week with an overturned car blocking the way > you then had to negotiate water on those cross-the-road drains > hopefully didn't get warping of the discs.

How was the Mac Pass run? Did you go up or down or both?

Yeah I did, got caught in slowest moving traffic ever! Should have had a look in the cafe, didn't occur to me at all where the owners of 2 parked skylines might be. pinch.gif slow...

It was me Patrick, the Great Sir Andrew !!!!!!!! :) HAHAHAHAH

Was good to meet a few people and go for a drive up there. Bloody good timing the rain stopped for when we got to the lookout, it sure made up for it on the way home!!! Heaviest rain EVER!!!!! Saw a car that had spin off the road on Mona Vale road and go backwards into a tree at a decent speed, YIKES!!!!! Heaps of other cars had stopped. MASSIVE areas of aqua planing on the road too, not cool. but adds to the excitement!!!!!

Great to meet Patrick, Joel, Ed and Michael in the R32 GTR, plus briefly meet slow skyline (your car sounded PHAT when you left the car park, nice wheels too mate :D )

Got some good pics from the lookout will post up when i get the camera sorted.......

Well 'hicas' would have been me, the couple would have been Joel (JoelyMoely) and Luoise ;)

+1 on epic rain after the cruise! I needed to drop something off at Epping, on the way there I hit a massive puddle on Mona Vale Rd which sent my Subaru towards the nature strip! Apparently 4WD doesn't count for much when you don't have contact with the road

hehe sorry Great Sir Andrew,Ed, Michael, Joely moely and Louise, i need to find some of those smart memory pills when they are invented.

plus 2 re epic rain after lookout, though it gave me just enough time to be a bit of a 'hoon' on the way out of the park, only came down properly once i got onto the proper traffic light/lane marked roads on the way back to sydney. Didnt see any decent accidents but i can believe they were happening, a Tarago in front of me aquaplaned for a moment and nearly slid off into a bus shelter.

exciting stuff.

ok bring on the next one with slightly less water please!

Yeah i figured i'd driven all the way there so might as well have a look. Weather was clear at the lookout, but freaking terrible for the next 5 hours following! HAHAHAHA We took it mighty easy on the way up and back, few branches on the road but otherwise just soaked.

You car sounds tops, sounds very much like mine, nice and angry hehehehehe

Catch ya next time mate.

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
    • Shock tower brace is in +5Kw....LOL
