Wtf??? That's shit as. Way too late for a 3076. I got a stock ported manifold and stock cams (have a cam gear only) and is internally gated.

Just looked at your boost line and looks lazy. What controller you using? Or just off the external gate

From what you write about your high-flowed turbo I would buy immediately buy it, since it sounds like lots

of low down grunt and fun :) Who made this unit???

I have this nice boost controller, it has 3 settings .. 'off' 'low' 'high' ... wouldn't that help to tame the unit?

Anyhow, the car is used as anything from grocery getter to daily driver (though not as a commuter)

From time to time for the drag strip, but not on a 'professional basis'

My insurance policy states 'recreational use' and that's the truth ..

I wouldn't want too much downtime with the turbo upgrade, and I have a good mechanic at hand who

does very good work (but only at weekends)

Here in the UK there's is quite some backfround noise with High Flowed Turbos, usually you get no 'hard data' on these.

'They' just state 'stage1' or 'stage2' and that's something I wouldn't buy especially when being quite pricy...

I had a recommendation for a HKS28xx kit .. but that was very pricey ...

I had a hiflow at 250rwkw and it was sometimes pretty hard to drive. Made heaps of boost and came on hard way too early in the rev range. On wet days if you tried to accelerate in 4th from say 70 to 100km/h you'd get wheel spin all the time. Fun but a real PITA, you couldn't always count on controlling it. Not saying all hiflows are like this, but mine was.

Stopping at uphill sets of traffic lights on wet days - just thinking about it used to make me break out in cold sweats. I'd plan my route to avoid having to go through them.

I went to a 3076 with external gate and WMI at 300rwkw and its a totally better vehicle all round. Good reliable steady progressive power. Transformed the car, made it a damn sight easier to live with. So its not called lag, its called control to me!!!

But buying and installing such a turbo takes more effort and $$$$ than one that bolts up to the std dumps etc. It really depends on your end goals and what you want to do with the car long term. Also - if you buy say a hypergear hiflow as an interim step - how easy would it be to resell later and get your $$$ back when you decide to up size??? Simple things like this can help make your build more progressive and easier on the bank account.

Too much boost early in the rev range. WTF? Never heard that before. You should drive a 6L Supercharged V8. That's low down power. You need to learn some right foot control. Throttle isn't an on/off switch.

It was hiflowed by GCG in Sydney, not sure if it was a completely std turbo to start with, it came on the car. From memory it went from 50/7? to 56/76 but I could be wrong there, I gave all the paperwork to the person who bought it off me. I also had other mods that allowed the 250rwkw to be made [fmic, pfc, tomei cams, dump, exhaust, hiflow cat, z32, etc etc]. But as I said I didn't like its power delivery, was not as progressive.

The 3076 makes 50kw more power but has a much better power delivery and more of it [in the rev range] where you need it.

If I was you I'd send Stao from Hypergear a PM and get one of his units, only ever heard good things about his product.

Yeah ... I will send him a PM, he seems to have lots of experience and also documents his results well.

There's an inner voice that says 'go high mount, go high mount'. ;) But that would involve too much downtime (but would be quite sexy)

    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
