Ok so i bought the car with the big garrett taken off and it had a aftermarket exhaust manifold and tial 38mm wastegate bolted on. Took that off and was going to put stock manifold back on with stock turbo but realized i didnt have any water or oil lines or gaskets or copper washers etc so ive ordered these but theres a few mani studs missing. after somone that can help replace mani studs and bolt turbo back on. Or a workshop etc that u guys have dealt with?

Can u put some pics up of what your talking about will help.

If u need exhaust manifold studs look at justjap.com they have them.

best way to put them in is get two nuts thread them on, then try and do one up and the other undone, this binds them together so you can finsih puting the bolt in. once done undo the nuts in the opersite way as to doing them up.

Not hard just need some tools.

thier is a few DIY threads look for RB25 turbo upgrade on R32 GTST in the DIY section.

Alright thanks heaps ive just ordered one of those rb25 turbos anyway so the thread should help witb any differences. Also the car has been rebuilt and has a 3"exhaust, 3"dump, hi flow cat, front mount, earth kit, microtech lt-12s, soon to have series two rb25 turbo, brass button clutch,

To make around 200rwkw would i need yellow jacket coils, injectors, fuel pump, ?? My mate reckons ill need a fuel pressure regulator?

But what gets me is it previously made 238.3 rwkw with the gt 3540 "dont ask me why they had this turbo on a rb 20 lol" so maybe i wouldnt need any thing else to make 200 to 210 kw??

um.......why are you removing the turbo anyway, sound better than a stock rb25 turbo???

as long as your coil packs work ok, don't bother buying new ones for under 300rwkw, not needed

fuul pressure regulators are over rated, if you have injectors large enough, no need. If you are after the last 10kw from your stock injectors, the fuel pressure reg could be of use, otherwise don't bother,

Aww ok thanks for that, i bought the car minus gt3540 but it came with the stock turbo not bolted on. The rb25 series two turbo will do for now just bought a rb25 wiring loom and am looking for a rb25det in the near future.

But a friend has a rb30 turbo motor that he wants out of his yard for the lowley price of a carton so might look at rb30det also!

Yeah i was thinking i didnt need one after reading martin donnons 15 not haves in performance imports issue 132, but this particular mate owns a 5 ltr vp commodore so i thought he of all people would no lol i tryed reciting what martin wrote but couldnt remember lol

To be honest, don't get too carried away with engine swaps etc..

If you don't have the skills/knowledge or tools to put a stock turbo back on, your not going to be able to complete an engine swap.

Get the turbo, manifold, dump pipe, exhust and cooler pipe work sorted out- get the ecu re-tuned. Then just drive it for a while! Spend some money on brakes and suspension before you go getting into engine swaps.

Yeah im gunna tackle it tho can only try. Ive got tools i hire a shipping container and its on my uncles property he owns every tool you can imagine ( earth moving & truck company ) so thats no drama.

I agree i wouldnt tackle a engine swap until im more confident and experienced and might wait till the rb20 gives out anyway.

The turbo should be here today or tommorow then i can take it to this shop in newy called pit crew and get my braided oil & water lines made up.

I have a high mount manifold with a tial 38mm wastegate but i didnt no if id be worth putting the rb25 turbo on that or stock manifold? Id have to get longer oil lines made ?

The dump is ok unless i wanna make a screamer!

The exhaust is some custom made 3" mandrel bent with a high flow cat. But i liked the sound of the blitz nur spec on my last 32.

The intercooler and hard pipeing kit has been taken off and am currently spraying non gloss black dont want to attract any unnecessary attention.

I definitely wanna get it tuned asap and wanna get cold start sorted.

Atm there just stock brakes painted blue :-P will look into something when i hit eastern creek up.

The suspension consists of nismo adjustable shocks, matched to some sort of red springs dare say pedders, and kkr castor rods, wanna lock out hicas and chuck adjustable everything in it. My last 32 had kei office coilovers i really liked those. Also will chuck in my nismo 2 way at some stage.

Found your problem

FPR's are only needed if your injectors are maxed out and your to tight to buy new ones, I can understand possibly if your stock FPR breaks and you want to just replace with an aftermarket one. But end of the day stock FPR and correct injectors are the best way to go

Didnt read threw rest of the post but for the power you are planing you should get a upgraded fuel pump.

i brought a walbro 500hp pump from www.horsepowerinabox.com for $160. Bosh 040 is also good just a tad more exspencive but can handle higer HP (rated to 600hp)

Yeah i wanna see if i have a stock one or aftermarket.

My new rb25 series two turbo turned up today its physically bigger than the stock rb20 turbs so thats a good sign hopefully it will handle 14 psi

Well the turbo is all bolted on etc but it is running rough heard it needs some nipple welded in to the intake pipe? Could this be the cause? Or maybe afm or a sensor of some kind not sure

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂 
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence.
