No what he did was assume he could be a cheap arse and remove the turbo and then easily put it back on and got the turbo car.. sif research or look what non turbos are available.. of course they are available... just not alot cheaper/more expensive than turbo

shoudlnt a theard be created for these sorts questions, conisdering that now skylines are alot more affordable than ever before to a younger more naive crowd with no experience or idea about their import, sort of like a Q n A thread for new import owners/ quick questions that don’t deserve a thread where you can't find a definitive answer after searching for an hour etc. where they can ask their questions and get a quick answer. I’v known a fair few people who buy an import treat it like a corolla or a commodore don’t sevice it treat it like shit, user crap oil, and when it stop running usual something simple they leave it their garage and preach how unreliable imports are bla bla bla, when in fact they are uneducated about owning an import.

Hi, yes it is possible to take a a turbo off an R33 and it will still run right.

It is a very simple process. You simply unbolt and remove the turbo, connect an exhaust system to the exhaust manifold, remove all intercooler piping, and put your air filter just infront of the throttle body. Start the car and you can drive it straight away.

Simple and easy process, will still have great power and fuel economy increases by 200%.

PM me for a more detailed description on how to do it

thanks for that info. really helps me out. Will PM you for more info about it. :)

I had the sudden urge to do it, so i thought f*k it!

Ok, on a serious note, it is possible to covert a turbo Skyline to a non-turbo but it is a pointless exercise.

You are better off buying a non-turbo Skyline from factory or just waiting till you are off your P-plates and then buying a turbo Skyline.

I you just take the turbo out and replace exhaust manifold with a non turbo one and replace where ever ur intake plumbing with just a pipe going to ur airbox you could do that. But don't you will end up with an engine with less power than a non turbo engine since the lower compression ratio. just swap in a new engine and sell ur old turbo one you might even make a a bit of money if you sell the turbo engine.

I'm going to start counting from now on how often this shit gets asked on here.

I will assume you are on your P plates and therefore can not drive a turbocharged vehicle. Buying a turbocharged car and taking a turbo off does not change a thing. The car was still complianced and registered as a turbocharged car. Therefore it is still illegal for you to drive! Why don't you people ever understand this, it is not that hard to understand!!

By your same concept you could drive a V8 if you simply removed the ignition system on 2 cylinders. You could ride a Hyabusa on your learners if you simply added an extra 150kg onto it and so on.

Seriously think for a few minutes before asking such stupid questions. And also search. This question gets asked at least twice a week. You think you have thought of some genius way to get around the laws that no one has ever thought of?

Dead set.

Not to mention that, unless you have a fetish for non turbo RB engines (if so. get help), a turbo car with non tubro engine is still a turbo car as far as the laws is concerned. So yes, keep looking for a non turbo one.

That being said, if you found a non turbo car that had been converted to a turbo one, you could legally remove the turbo and put normal minfolds back on and drive it legall, as far as i can tell.

+1 AND P platers cant drive modified cars. Removing a turbo IS a modification!

Do you need more evidence..

exactly. should you decide to "de-turbo" a turbo, it'll still be registered as a turbo, so when you get pulled over and they run your car, the policeman will think its a turbo

So you didn't look at carsales prior to posting this thread? You gotta be kidding me.

took less than a minute. theres (ironically) 33 R33 gts's there

seriously, P platers should buy a cheap, gutless pos and actually learn how to drive first while saving there money so when they get there blacks they can afford something good which would brobly be better then what they would end up with if they started with a one in the first place and might be able to control it

my first car was a 96 suzuki sierra 1.3 carby, totally gutless and ran on the smell of a oily rag, i learnt heaps in that car and it cost me f all

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
