Thinking of going 5 stud so that I don't have to drill brake discs any more. The parts thread says to use S14 hubs but that isn't going to work for my car as it's AWD.

Anyone know what parts I need to collect instead? I'm guessing R32 GTR or R33 but I don't know enough to be certain.

cradle is another word for subframe, it was ment to mean full subframe diff, hubs etc

what u need is front gts4/gtr hubs and rear hubs with the lower control arm as the gtst/s13 rear control arms have a small ball joint mount( doesn't have the extra coupler on the ball joint mount that the gtr has)

^^ Eh?

Wheel HUBS can be taken off the knuckle assembly and bolted straight onto current knuckle assemblies....

Balljoint is only relevant if you cbf unbolting the hub from the knuckle / too weak to unbolt hub from knuckle (like dudes who do dodgey-as-f**k S14 front 5 stud conversions) :P :P

So all I need is a set of R32 GTS4/GTR hubs, and a set of wheels of course. Awesome. (I'm thinking stock R32 GTR alloys)

What about R33 or R34 ones? Will they fit?

And thanks, I know what a subframe is, never heard it called a cradle before!

Hubs, wheels, rotors (you already got), and calipers to suit (assuming you got stock calipers?)

Take the lot off an R32 GTST, you got 280mm front rotors, and 297mm rear rotors.

If you go R33 GTST, you got 296mm front rotors, 297mm rear.

If you change calipers, let me know, I took photo's of how to fit the ceffy brake lines to Skyline calipers properly (ie not shortening banjo bolts n shit....also a dodgey practice the S14 5 stud upgrade boys like to do....death wish if you ask me) I'll patch them through to ya.

And yes, R33 and R34 wheels will also fit.

Check out the build thread on my white Cefiro, that has R33 GTR rims, that gives you an idea on wheel fitment.

17 x 9 (+30 offset), the rears are fine but touch the guards sometimes, the fronts are very close to the coilovers (about 5mm) and close to the guards, but usually fine, no rubbing, scraping, etc.

R32 GTST (16 x 7) will fit fine, and sit inwards of the guards

R32 GTR (16 x 8) will fit a little bit better.

I already have R33 GTSt discs/pads/callipers. My main motivation for going 5 stud is so that I don't have to get the discs drilled any more! Not sure how he did the conversion, but I know it involved replacing the hoses with braided ones from a local company that makes hoses specifically for fitting Skyline brakes to S13s, so I'd assume no cutting of banjo bolts was needed.

The problem I have is the guy I use, a local Silvia & Skyline specialist, has a nice rig he uses specifically for accurately drilling 5 stud discs down to 4 stud but he recently took on a contract with a local race team that runs SR20 MX-5s, so now he has no time for us normal customers. I need to be able to just drive into my local tyre+exhaust place staffed by 17yr old monkeys and ask for brakes from a 1995 Skyline GTSt

Also, I was asking if R33 and R34 hubs would fit, not wheels!

Are R32 GTSt hubs also 5 stud then? I thought they were 4 stud? That would make things easier as there's loads of GTSts being driven around by idiots in my local area, so I can just wait for winter when half of them will get wrapped around lamp posts and then broken for parts!

And don't worry my 4WD Ceffy does get around. It's actually parked outside my workplace right now, and it's at a car show the weekend after next. If I quit my current job it will be my daily driver again too!

Oh, my bad.

Yes, R33 and 34 hubs will fit.

Ive got R34 hubs on the rear on mine. Obviously though, you're waiting for a GTS4 to be written off if you want 5 stud on the front as well.

If you've already got brake lines made, then you're all good to go! :D

R32 and R33 non turbo's were 4 stud (RB20E and RB20DE) with shithouse single piston brakes all round. Infact R34s did as well, but they were 5 stud.

YEs and no.

REAR hubs on GTR are different in that they have a different number of splines, to accomodate the stronger GTR axles, GTR axles use a 6 bolt flange (6x1, not 3x2)

You could use GTR diff, axles and hubs, then you have stronger axles at the rear.

As for the fronts, not sure...I'd assume the fronts follow a similar fashion....

Ugh, so it has to be GTS4 fronts, and either GTS4 or GTS-T rears.

That sucks :(

I take it I can't put GTS-T rear hubs on the front?

Edit: Is the GTR front diff open like the Ceffy's or some kind of LSD.. Will be easier to justify swapping the front diff if I get an LSD too

Dunno man, like I said, with the fronts I don't know if the GTR differs to the GTS4.

Put it this way, if it's a direct fit, sweet, if it's not a direct fit, then it's better/stronger, so might as well go it anyway, it just means you'd need to buy shafts as well.

Win Win, right? :P

Well the weak spot in my system is the auto tranny no there's no point in uprating the diff really, especially for one from a written off Skyline that's likely seen more miles and a lot more abuse. My Ceffy came with 28,000 km on the clock and even now is only up to 57,000 km

But I really want a front LSD after an embarrassing situation the winter before last where I got stuck in the snow with 3 wheels spinning.

I've been told on another forum that R33 and R34 GTR have front LSD, so if those will go on my Ceffy, I'm sorted :)

    • Yeah they charge a little extra for mods , last year I noted no mods but I did have an exhaust fitted after that so  better to let them know cause these kinds of things can cause the policy to be void if you ever need to claim.
    • Hello, just just bought an 1999 enr34 with a stock rb25neo and I'm looking to upgrade the engine to 500whp I know some basic things but wondering if there are things I'll need to do to upgrade the stock block and all the bits and pieces to achieve this.
    • Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions. Got the seats out (hoping I could find some existing grommets but no such luck). By tapping and measuring etc. I could figure out where I could drill through if needed. But first I borrowed an inspection camera and managed to go through factory holes in the chassis rail and could see that the captive nut was holding steady which is why it could retighten. So it was indeed a stripped section of thread, so I applied downforce by levering the bolt head with a screwdriver and went slowly back and forth until it came out. Camera helped a lot cos I could monitor that the captive nut was holding tight. Now I just have one very seized main subframe nut to tackle 😅
    • BOVs do have a purpose, if you ever log pressure before and after the throttle body, you will see a spike pre throttle on lift off from a WOT condition. Enough to bend throttle blades / damage e-throttle motors or simple assist in blowing off cooler pipes. FWIW, the above on really applies to those running at least 2 bar of boost. OP shouldn't have an issue, on the other hand, here are some videos of my shit box over a decade ago with some succulent dose with the airbox on and off. That shit box is unrecognisable these days 🫠
    • I've tried all different combinations of BOVs/ no BOV and stock bypass valves over the years, on gear changes the stock bypass valve seems to get the car back on boost quicker because in part the turbos wheel speed isn't being slowed down by reversion, although they have issues holding boost much over the stock setting. Most aftermarket BOVs you can adjust the spring, tighter will make it open later and close sooner, but in my experience it'll cause a bit of flutter at low load/rpm anyway. I've also got some input into this whole no bov causing turbo wear, never had an issue on any on my turbos HOWEVER, I got my R33 GTST with 200k kms on it, with from what I can see still has the original turbo, no lateral shaft play but has about 4-5mm of play in and out which to me seems like a worn thrust bearing from years (100-150k kms?) of turbo flutter running no bov, so maybe there is some truth to it in the long run. But that'll never stop me loving the Stutututu while I have the car.   OP just wants to know if he can run a atmo vented BOV with no major issues and the answer is YES, plenty of people do it, there's no harm in installing it and seeing how it runs before spending $$$ on an aftermarket ecu, last time I bought a Nistune it was $2400 for install and a tune , unsure of todays prices but you get me. Crazy money to spend just to fix the minor inconvenience of stalling that can be overcome by letting the revs come down to near idle before putting the clutch in or a little bit of throttle to avoid it. You're better off leaving the ecu and tune for after a bigger turbo/injectors have been installed to take full advantage of the tune and get your moneys worth.   Let OP have his Whoosh sound without trying to break his bank haha
