scotty nm35
Arthur, is your exhaust 3.5 inch? I would like to keep it at least that size for you. Bell mouth it into 4 inch at the bend. Looks like I will have to hand cut the flange too. ARTZ
yeah flange will be the hardest part i know front /dump is 3 inch atm into 4 inch cat then 3.5 after cat, i was thinking 3.5 inch front pipe to cat, dump can be 3 inch it shouldn't matter whatevers easiest. And cheers Dave I will get back to you if we get stuck on that Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/365108-rear-housing-options/page/4/#findComment-5850787 Share on other sites
GTScotT
IMO you should go for gold. That housing is going to be awesome and your only setback is the old tech compressor. Meaning if its not good rip it off and have a turbo place install a proper GT37 52T compressor and the surge ported cover. Bolt it all back on and WHAMO, highly speculated ultimate option! Hell if you dont like that I'll buy the whole turbo off you! ARTZ
Ok for the poor souls that rememebr this thread well..finally got around to pulling that turbo out and now im even more confused.. Now we thought it was a 21u, because we could see a 'u' but not much else as it was fitted to the car. It has a tag on it that has _4u on it, not 21u at all..the dash is a letter or number I cant quite read..but it definately isnt an original nissan housing of any description i know of..just looking at it you can see its physically bigger..Anyone have any ideas on this... anyway its probably not as restrictive as i originally thought..so unless its just the old 7 blade comp wheel that is no good, I have other issues with my car all together.. tempted to throw a proper 3076 comp wheel on it now just to see what happens.. GTScotT
To assist people wanting answers using the search function. For those that can only look at one turbo when wanting to know the differences the markings on the housing will reveal all. The R32 turbo has 16v stamped on the compressor cover and is the only comprssor cover used on RB20 turbo's. The R32 turbo most of the time has the smaller 16v or 04u stamped turbine housing. (some 1993 models have the RB25 21u turbine housing) The R33 turbo has 45v1, 45v2, 45v3, 45v4 stamped on the compressor cover. The R33 turbo has 21u stamped on the turbine housing. The R33 turbo as stated above is larger. Searched 04U.. Get that L2 on there before I come to Vic Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/365108-rear-housing-options/page/4/#findComment-6108002 Share on other sites
