Yeah CAMS making the Tailem Bend drags day in August being 1/8th mile is gayer than aids imho. Why even bother?

CAMS are not sanctioning the event. ANDRA are. and due to safety and insurance reasons is why it has been dropped down to a 1/8th mile.

i think personally all you whinging little princesses need to harden up and support what we have at the moment! dont knock back what you havent tried!

We have Doorslammers and Darren Morgan's Top Fuel Drag Car running 1/8th mile! The Doorslammers even have their own rounds of competitive 1/8th mile meetings! the Boys love it!

BUT HEY

what would i know?

Hey everyone I just wanted to send out a little message in regards to a funeral I attended yesterday. An old best friend of mine who developed serious alcohol/violence issues passed away last week. The last time I spoke to him was when I told him to never speak to me again (because of his violent/anti-social behavior) He was buried at 22 years of age. To my bewilderment, in the 18 months I hadn't spoken to him he developed a drug habit some time after I ended our friendship and subsequently died of an overdose. This is not intended to be a sob story, just an expression that anyone suffering from addiction/s or concerned about an individual, please seek help and support. This also applies those with to mental sickness and in all areas there is more than enough resources to help our loved ones. Pick up a phone, do whatever you can! Yesterday was one of the saddest days of my life. Mainly because by the time I was aware of mason's problem it was too late. Sorry for the gloom and doom but one of us could save a life one day. Always a good thing :)

I am not joking at all. Im even happy just to talk to anyone if they need someone. Other than that enjoy life people! Thanks

Hardest part for any depression in men is having the balls to actually go and talk to someone. Most guys need to know it's not weak to talk to someone about your feelings, especially when it is depression. Usually it's their partners that cop the brunt of their anger.

the reason its 1/8th mile is the rest is potholes and under contruction 25km zone ...lol

I can say this state needs a few tracks, closer to cbd ???, drag, drift, road racing, etc. the economy would benefit more then a footy staduim. autoracing is the largest sport in the world !!! not footy

I felt ashamed to see the qld and perth magazines in the news stand showing hundreds of pages of cruise scene, car racing etc. S'ADALAIDE is boring as bat shite in comparision

1/8th mile is sooooo not worth it.

If I lived at Tailem Bend (thinking of it, houses for sale for 100k) or Murray bridge then yeh Id have a go, but seriously you cant even get into the top end of the engines rev range in 200m in a decent gear (2nd gear limiter smashing does nothing for me).

Why the hell cant Adelaide have a motorsport complex? The laws that be want to get hoon driving off the streets, but where the F* can you go?

Would love to have a complex where you can go out friday nights for 1/4mile 400m drag sessions, and saturday night track sessions.

If the Govt can fund a billion dollar hospital, half billion dollar Adelaide Oval upgrade (the Oval is perfect as-is IMHO), etc. then why the hell not a motorsport complex?

Adelaide manufactures Holden (and used to manufcature Mitsubishi) so I feel its kinda ingrained into our culture here to enjoy motor vehicle "sports"......... but its all too hard for the Govt to support a complex - even tho we stage a V8 race that disrupts the city (traffic & residents) each and every year.

*bangs head against (tyre) wall.

Woohoo my 8pot brembos bolt upto the 6pot dog bones I've already got. Score! Now just to get rear dogbones made and rear alloy hats and that will be brakes sorted.

awesome Luke, must be coming along nicely.

What did you decide for the rears?

Im using Wilwood 4-pots up front with 324mm discs, and Stagea rear setup on the R32 (stagea rear is smaller than R32).

Last trackday was knocking off 2secs faster per lap with semi-slick Pzero tyres (treadwear rating of 80) and 324mm discs up front.... I dont feel that a stripped skyline will require large rear brakes, but awaiting to trial that out myself next SAU:SA track day - thats right, I dibs a spot!!!! (last 2 trackdays only got in 2 - 3 sessions before a) overheated engine, and b) lost ringlands)

is that in dollars Andrew?

Ive been waiting to win the lottery for some time now, is today my lucky day??

I'm sorry but the punishment DOES fit the crime.

We are all the one paying for the D*CKS on the road through the CTP scheme, accident involving speed / racing are higher than ever. The more people that are injured and killed the more YOU and everyone else on here will have to pay for registration on your cars.

I don't care if you agree or disagree, but I have to deal with the people who are injured on a daily basis. So I'm all for making an example and hopefully people will think twice about doing the same and causing an injury or death.

Sorry this isn't correct. Deaths involving street racing would represent <2% of the accidents, and although they are avoidable they in no way deserve the media attention or the money spent by the government that it does when deaths involving inattentive driving would represent 30+% and i have never seen any money spent on combating this issue.

It's just a vote grabber and that is it.

If you start making the penalty not fit the crime that is when you get people running which increases the risk to the general public hugely. What other expiatable offence has a $50,000 fine (in the case of the R34 owner).

Have a read of the NS thread. Video posted of a Ferrari going through the tunnels faster than those Skylines would have been. Got to feel for them though, wonder how the bloke who uploaded it would feel if those two GT-Rs get taken. Easily $100k into those two for sure.

Actually.. might stalk the auctions and pick up a good deal..

    • Welcome to my 2004 Toyota Mark ii IR-V Fortuna (series 2) With a 1JZ-GTE powerplant under the bonnet (hood) it'll give me plenty of scope for power upgrades. For those who aren't familiar with imports, the 1JZ-GTE is a 2.5L 6 cylinder VVTi engine with a single turbocharger. This has the factory R154 5 speed gearbox, along with a aftermarket 2 way LSD differential (brand unknown). Under the arches are a set of CST Zero 1 alloys, 18x9 +30 225/40 up front and 18x9.5 +15 265/35 on the rear. The car was quite low in Japan and there's evidence of the wheels catching the rolled arches/fenders. The tyre's aren't great so I'm in two minds whether to replace both or just the tyres and put up with the wider wheels on the rear. The car still uses stock brakes with the addition of some braided hoses. The exterior is stock with the exception of a BN Sports front bumper and a replacement Fortuna grill  Moving to the interior, the steering wheel has been replaced with a dished MOMO steering wheel (which will get swapped for my Momo Tuner for the time being) Defi Link Gauges are mounted above the climate controls and on the A pillar, the Oil Temp,Oil Pressure,Water Temp and Boost gauges should help with spirited and track driving  The stock seats have been replaced with some retrimmed Recaro bucket seats. Being a larger build these are a little snug, unfortunately the orange isn't for me so I'll look into replacing these down the line. Other modifications include a twin plate clutch, Blitz intercooler, Evolve alloy radiator, a stainless exhaust with decat, HKS EVC-S boost controller and coil overs
    • Apologies for the long read My R34 GTT was up for sale at the beginning of spring due to a few repairs creeping up. The strut tops needed replacing, roof and bonnet (hood) painting (yay for 3 stage pearl) and the underside stripped and treated. I sold the car which allowed me to be in a much better place financially. Leading up to the sale I was already thinking about the replacement. In an ideal world it needed to be a good all-rounder. Something I can mess around with, modify, do track days, do the school run, go on long drives etc.  Options included but not limited to... Laurel C35, Evo 8/9, Civic FD2, Impreza Hawkeye, Aristo and even an Audi S4 Avant (I've already got the Mazda 6 wagon). But there was always one car at the top of the list The Toyota Mark ii JZX110 I found an advert on a Facebook group for an example in Japan, from a seller called Jon at Rising Sun Exports. A few messages back and forth and Jon calls me from Yokohama one morning (or afternoon in his case). He briefly explained the import process, the costs involved and a repeat of the advert. After much deliberation, the price was agreed and the sale was locked in. I've never imported a vehicle so I jumped into the unknown head first. The money transfer was completed through wise.com (fees apply), very easy to use and the money was with him within a day or two.  The car suspension was raised for the vessel and the car dropped off at the port. It was 7 weeks later when the bill of lading was received and the freight invoice sent to me, followed by the export certificate a couple of days after (both digital copies) In the mean time the port had been in contact. I needed an agent to deal with the NOVA (notification of vehicle arrival) along with the tax/duty invoice, this was £75.00. The port also had a fee of £100, I'm guessing to cover the cost of the 10 day 'free storage' and for moving the car off the boat etc. They need a copy of the vehicle invoice, freight invoice and export certificate to allow the vehicle to pass through customs. The vessel arrived on Tuesday 5th August, the tax/duty invoice was generated and sent over. This is generally tax 20% and duty 10% of the vehicle value. Although the invoice came in at a higher amount than I had calculated. Once HMRC had received the payment the vehicle could be released from customs. I thought once the tax/duty was paid you could collect at any point, that's not the case. Your agent will need to book a collection slot, I requested Thursday 7th which was accepted, with a 9:00am slot allocated. It was a 5:00am start from Norfolk heading to Southampton. We eventually found the compound, upon presenting the bill of lading and some ID they released the car (they drove it out of the compound to the front ready for us to load up). The email from the port stated each slot had a 10 minute window, which seemed abit farfetched but the staff said it's not a strict rule. We were there for approx. 30-40 mins in total. A week prior to collecting I contacted my garage and explained the situation, I was able to get an inspection slot that afternoon. For the registration, DVLA require the car to be insured, for this I used a company called Adrian Flux who can insure the vehicle using the VIN number.
    • Hey guys, looking for these side skirts if anyone can help me out.
    • Wife and I are still looking for a new home. One condition was a large enough garage for a full-size lift in one bay. Now if only we could find something... We've been looking for almost a year now.
    • Thanks everyone for the ideas! Sadly, ramps are a no go for me. With young kids at home, I do most of my work late at night while they're sleeping. Starting the car multiple times wouldn't be a great idea.  I'll go see one of those new long reach low profile jacks and take a couple measurements to see if they will fit.
