Diy Universal Lip

Recommended Posts

I've looked at this thread a few times and am considering doing it to my 33 instead of a Nismo style lip which is more expensive and I'm not really sold on.

Has anyone been running one long term? Or did everyone give up on these??

hey man, I bought my rubber lip from ebay a while ago, couldn't tell you the exact vendor but there's heaps on there

held on just using double sided tape and still going strong after 6 months through the winter, rain & highway driving

if it starts to fall off, which I don't see happening anytime soon I can always reapply double sided tape

Amazon is the largest online retailer on earth - pretty sure they can post internationally.....It's a brave new world out there!

I just got confirmation yesterday that it's en route and have a tracking link, so will let you know if it makes it!

The stuff off ebay is totally different to the ones I bought lol. The ones of ebay is THICK and stiff, compare to the ones from Amazon, is soft and bendable, hence why the ebay ones would start to fall off because it's too heavy and when you drive, it fights against the wind :)

Huh? I thought Amazon don't do anything to Australia, only to US?

A year or two ago I had to get the stuff I ordered on Amazon shipped to a specialist outside-US shipping company and then onto myself - comGateWay.

Of course Amazon send stuff to Australia, but just depends on what. You are half right though, there's a lot of stuff they don't send to Australia. But the lips isn't one of them :)

I just found a new spare roll at home, if anyone wants it for $25? PM me

Update.

Mine lasted 4 days before the stuff ripped to shreads going into a servo, it was double sided taped and screwed on.

My cars ride height from the lower part of the bumper to the groubd was 160 mm, so not overly low.

I did look good for 4 days though but served no other purpose as it was too flexible for any form of aero.

A waste of money is my official opinion.

I should have bought 6 pack with the money.

High speed runs was not the problem, I went to the drags and got a 134 mph trap speed and it held fine.

The problem is the spongy/soft rubber compond it is made from, as soon as it grounded it tore all of the RHS off and chewed out the rest, the top of it was still attached to the bumper, the lower section of it was dragging behind.

There was only about 400mm of it on the LHS that survived unscathed.

Be wary of any slightly steep driveways or inclines.

finally got around to doing mine.

Haven't seen a black 34 do it yet, so i took my chances lol. went really well, though i wish i had an aftermarket lip that I could've put on and then put this garage seal one on. looks kind of plain.

    • @Butters I can't tell you why but the bigger HKS step 2 cams improved low and mid end immensely. Turbos started spooling about 1k RPM less than before and the idle/vacuum was rock solid, it was an absolute thrill to drive, 3rd gear pulls hit 180kmh where previously only managed 160. Conversely, the milder poncoms in there now have a funky idle making it harder to get off the line, drives poorly in lower revs, laggy and makes less power/torque throughout. Feels better after I swapped the EBC but unless I put it on the Dyno again, I can't say how much better.
    • Hi Sydney kid   do you still selling spring and blistein shocks for Nissan 260rs? Air any suspension upgrades? Please advice     yudy
    • Cams are not needed at this power level, they will create lag. The cam gears are a good idea though.
    • @Murray_Calavera yeah, I guessed as much, cooler temps, more boost, less knock, more timing, hello power. Unfortunately not quite within reach ATM, could upgrade my whole fuel system to support but still wouldn't have E85 to run it 😂  Anyway, I changed cams again, 260/260 poncam B and everything else the same except an EBC upgrade. Now I must say I was quite disappointed with the result as it was like running stock cams (didn't try to dial them in as they're supposed to be optimum already) but after awhile I suspected my new EBC was underperforming not to mention difficult to use. I recently swapped back my old EBC and it drives much better now, boost comes on sooner, more stable, no spikes etc, feels all quicker and faster than with stock cams. Planning to fiddle with the cam gears and see what happens but maybe skip the Dyno as I intend to revert to the HKS cams cos they really made the car come alive; low and mid end was unbelievable and it just wanted to rev to the moon, finally knew what people were raving about, RB26 really loves revs. Anyway, Dyno 03 is quite disappointing, in Dyno 02 although peak power was less and trailed off at the top, the low and mid end improvement more than made up for it.
    • @Darrel It's so tempting to say e85 is borderline magic. It cools the intake charge, so if you're flirting with the edge of the turbos compressor map it helps dramatically cool down the hot air the turbos are pumping. It is very resistant to detonation so you can crank the timing, I don't really want to say you won't be knock limited anymore.... but you probably wont be knock limited anymore lol. I wouldn't be surprised if you made 20% more power swapping to e85 (provided you have the fuel system to support them, bigger injectors maybe bigger pump etc).
