Do you guys have a dyno down there? .... I'd sure love to dyno my car while it is still fairly standard .... before the LS1 dyno day (when I hope to have my exhaust etc on by then).

What sort of dyno/dyno-tune deal could you get me? :D *cheeky*

Yes we have a dyno. I'll speak to Tim, and get back to you regarding a dyno run on your S15. I'm sure I can twist his arm regarding a deal for you Andrew and all the Skyline Aussie members.

Or otherwise give RPM a ring at 82772266. And ask for Ivan from next Monday.:D

Ivan,

You'll be seeing me from time to time then mate :( I've had a number of modifications done by (or in conjunction with) Tim, Mick, & Steve.

Come to think of it, you'll be getting your hands dirty on a 1UZFE (4.0L DOHC V8 Soarer eng') transplant into a Hilux Surf very very soon :uh-huh: My father in-law is booked in to have his turbo diesel Surf given some mumbo!

I'll be seeing you soon myself, I've got a few basics I want to get done before the dyno day, gotta’ squeeze those last few rwkw :D

Cheers,

Matt.

Andrew Nightcrawler, we can do the power run for u for $40, we can 'tweak' it up to get more rwkw for your 200sx.

If you want a dynotune it will be $137 plus parts. Ring RPM and we will fit u in before the LS1 dyno day. Mention Ivan.

Thanks Matt and Aaron. Will be looking forward for the hilux!!

Thanks Ivan .... I'll definitely take you up on that!

Congrats on the job btw .... I'll bet you can't wipe the smile off your face - get to play with hot cars all day *lucky bastard* :(

hi. just wondering what the cost is involved with that?

thinking of doing it my self.. did you use a crown engine or a soarer?

thanks,

Dave

Ivan,

Thanks mate :) I just want to do a basic once over, change fluids (diff/box/eng/filter) I'm too slack to do it myself & with the hoist it's much easier :( I've already got all the fluids/parts so it'll be a pretty simple. Hopefully I can drop in around the end of the month?

I'm also thinking about trying a set of NGK Iriway7's too? Nobody stocks them on the shelf in Adelaide yet (to my knowledge?) & Autobarn want $30+ea!

For those that didn't know: Iriway/Iritop/Irimac are the newish range of NGK Iridium plugs designed with performance, high comp' & boost levels in mind. They only come in 7,8 & 9 heat ranges. According to AB & NGK rep's HKS plugs are re-badged versions of these plugs?!

For more info read here - http://www.ngkspark.com.au/bulletin_SB01-1.htm

dAVE,

Give Tim a call @ RPM PC, he can give you a good run down as he put the package together. The engine they've sourced was from a Soarer.

I suggested the conversion to the Michael (father in-law) & he said, "Yeah lets do it!" The whole package drive-in / drive out will come to ~9-10k, that includes the g/box, clutch & flywheel set-up sourced by Michael via Melb'. I'm still working on convincing him to add a supercharger :uh-huh:

Cheers,

Matt

Matt,

We can do the plugs. But I would recommend the NGK BKR7EVX which is a platinum no7 heat range plugs for mild 1/2 serious street car.The Iridium ones are good for SERIOUS race applications but they are proven no better on the dyno for HP than the BKR7EVX.

When Tim was in Brunei tuning some cars for street drags, there were some cars over there which were running the Iridium heat range 8 and 9, thay were TOO COLD for daily driving and were fouling up. They were then replaced with the BKR7EVX and were running clean all week and were not missing at all.I'm sure the Iridium are a great thing but you will probably end up favouring the BKR7EVX for your car.

The Iridium and the BKR7EVX retail for $30each and $22 each respectively. But I can do them cheaper if you ring me at the end of this month.

Hope this helps,

Ivan.

G'day mate,

Really appreciate the help dude!

I'm actually already running BKR7EVX's so I guess I'll stick with 'em :) I've noticed a few GT-R owners have mentioned they use them too, & we all agree they're an excellent plug! I guess it's a case of, "when it ain't broke don't fix it" :)

Hope Corey's rail runs some good numbers next weekend!

:(

My car is going in to RPM this Thursday.

Make sure you don't use the powerwindows.. New tint is going on Wednesday Afternoon :D

Fixing up the thermo's.. I need 2 relays for the Twin Thermos.. :)

I was going to get it tuned but I've got it running pretty well now, I've dropped the timing to std now that I'm making 15psi up at 7000rpm, don't want to risk pinging in the hotter weather we are coming in to and i've also wound the Fuel pressure Bleed all the way in as i don't like the idea of it leaning out at all in the mid range.

Anyway it feels quicker than it did when it dyno'd at 156rwkw.

Turbo is coming.. soon.. :) Then I'll get the ECU re-mapped and bring it back to tims to get a possibly final Dyno Read out :)

I'm aiming for at least 200rwkw.

    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
