I noticed yesterday that my clutch is leaking a lot of fluid from where the shaft (the one kinda attached to the clutch pedal) goes into the master cylinder.

I'm guessing a seal is gone, but can anyone offer up any advice asap. Is there anything I can try short of taking it somewhere because I'm a bit short on funds atm :

Thanks

Funnily enough - I found that exact problem today as well. I have clutch fluid dripping down onto the clutch pedal and the floor. It's not leaking very fast but I had to top up the fluid today - I caught it when it was about 2mm from the bottom of the fluid reservoir.

46n2 - is the fluid leaking inside the car like mine?

MearCat : Yeah, it's leaking inside the same as yours :D I've spoken to a few ppl and they think i'll be in need of a new master cylinder. I'm holding off for a few days to confirm. I'll post back and let u know...

nooooo. $250 ouch....

in future guys.....

go to your local clutch place. and ask for a rebuild kit. should be about $10.

it will be a rubber seal. then you just replace the rubber seal on yours. and bolt it back in.

thats all that is needed to be done. i had a problem on mine and i solved it this way.

if you dont want to go to the hassel of rebuilding it...

i have got a spare one i'd sell.

it doens't leak. i doubled up when i didn't know what to do...

hehe...yeh i've got the same problem.....always a wet patch on my floor mat under

clutch pedal...and refillin the clutch master cylinder every couple of weeks.....

anyways...like dabigbolf said....i went and got a rebuild kit from nissan...

only cost me $40..

kit contains complete piston, return spring, piston stop ring, o-ring and the boot - all brand new....

if you going this way best idea is to give the cylinder a nice honing to insure the seal beds

in smoothly..

$250 is a bit steep....so $40 and a lil diy is ALOT lighter on the wallet......

Clutch Master Cylinder.

$250 is a bit of a RIP.

I bought mine for around $60-$70 from a local brake/clutch shop in St. Mary's.

It is made by PBR.

I may be able to dig up some old photo's of the box & part number.

Bl4ck32 also recently replaced his and knows the exact price as I replaced mine 2.5years ago.

Also guys remember when taking on the $40 kit rebuild option - IF your master cyl has scores in the bore it will need to be re-sleved or replaced which will end up costing you more money in the long run.

So before you buy the kit - it may be a good idea to take the master cyl off and taking it to a clutch place for assesment before spending your money.

I have encounterd the same problem on another car we had used that was 15 years old and from japan.

Does the clutch slip when powering down from 1st to 2nd when you shift really fast, once you back off quickly ( when you noticed its slipping ) .and give it gas it stops slipping ?

If thats the case, your stopper for the clutch pedal can be the problem.

petar.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
