Charles89
Hey guys, I've had a couple of incidents with my car and I was just wondering if anyone on here would be able to help me out with touching up my car.. There are 3 bits that needs sanding and painting, and to be honest, I don't really wanna spend $600 on a respray for bonnet and bumper... I just need someone to help me touch it up, I don't expect a touch-up job that would turn out to look like Daniel's R34 Nur, I mean... Anything would make it look better than what it is now... I hope.. I'm willing to pay for the paints and labour, so if anyone here has experience or is a spray painter and would wanna do a backyard cash job, please let me know. And PLEASE DO NOT refer me to DT panels or Micolour lol, or tell me that touching up will look crap and colour won't match, I just want a cheap touch-up job that looks okay... Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/370486-backyard-touch-up-paint-job/ Share on other sites
JamesK
Hey Charles, dude honestly that front bar is pretty much gone but if you really are hell bent on doing a el cheap o job then my suggestion is to find someone with a decent air compressor and a air sanding and paint kit and try doing it yourself, I had a friend who didn't know jack about paint and after a few tries his paint job looks pretty decent for a home garage job. Charles89
Heeeey How is my front bar gone.... I don't see it lol Only need just a little bog and some sanding? No? Count Grantleyish
Honestly, you're better off repainting the front bar. I once quoted $200 to paint in Midnight Purple by DT panels - which is apparently bit difficult paint to match. Charles89
The thing is... I got quoted, $300 for front bar, $300 for bonnet, then I want to fit new sideskirts $300. That's $900... Which is half way to a full respray... and I just can't justify spending so much money on my car lol, because I know with my luck, once I get it all fixed, someone will just back into me =.= EDIT: Or should I just wait until someone runs into me? lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/370486-backyard-touch-up-paint-job/#findComment-5906094 Share on other sites
Count Grantleyish
Wait for someone to run into you. Pick any shopping centre carpark other than Westfield Doncaster Shoppingtown. zr240
I would have thought $1800 would not be enough for a full respray? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/370486-backyard-touch-up-paint-job/#findComment-5906116 Share on other sites

Count Grantleyish
Charles, carbon fibre wrap it? Can't believe I've just thought of this. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/370486-backyard-touch-up-paint-job/#findComment-5906453 Share on other sites
ARTZ
Charles, carbon fibre wrap it? Can't believe I've just thought of this. That could actually work too, carbon wrap both bumperss and the skirts..Its a bold move though thats the problem with 2pak paints they are a bitch and expensive to fix.they dont just scrub out like acrylics the chip and crack so you cant just rub back and patch a section you pretty much have to repaint the whole panel.. KezR33
Get it professionally done if possible. Yellow is one of the hardest colours to match, especially since they removed lead from paints. Count Grantleyish
Oh well, $200 was what 2 or 3 years ago. Inflation kicked in yo. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/370486-backyard-touch-up-paint-job/#findComment-5906582 Share on other sites

krzysiu
vu does an ok job but with paint you get what you pay for literally True. My paint is 2 years old and is still awesome. Painted by Vu. Only scratches on the sideskirt when you open the door because of the poor quality kit Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/370486-backyard-touch-up-paint-job/#findComment-5906621 Share on other sites
