Hi all, Cut story short, just done a nistune, on my way home, im experiencing (twice) lost power (about milli seconds) and power came on again ... One, when i was on the freeway did normal speed 100 k's and tried over take someone and then power lost or boost drop or maybe boost spike idk... Then second time, floored it then it happened again?? Im bout to talk to the tuner tomorrow, but i just want to knw wat it is?? Its set up 13 psi on a stock turbz , stock inj... Mods are ; full exhaust, pod , ebc controller , fmic and walbro fuel pump...maybe its not liking the 13 psi ?? Should bring it down to 11-12 psi?? Im only getting 194 rwkw @ 13 psi with a lot of tourqe..

Sounds like you hit the TP cut (what others call boost cut). Running that much boost will pull enough air flow through the AFM for the ECU to freak out. Nistune allows you to push the cut point up higher, but your tuner may not have done so.

By the way, I agree that 13 psi is risky on an RB25 turbo.

But this tuner is a well known tuner here, id think he knows wats hes up to...car is a weekend only, and dont see any tracks, daily car... Anyways i will talk to him tomorrow..

Well all i know is my mates R34 GT-T manual made 209kw on 10psi with pod, zaust, fmic and stock ecu.i don't know shit about aftermarket tunes but your tune sounds funky on many levels.

I agree with everyone 13 psi is way to high ur turbo wont last long

I dosed my previous 25 on 0.98bar for 6 months and nothing happened. but alas someone had to write my car off,so the effects never showed themselves lol.

That sound (as already written) like TP-Cut.

TP is the load the ECU calculates, if that's over a certain limit the ECU cuts fuel/ignition.

If you had your car tuned, the tuner should have taken care of this (so probably a different issue?)

194KW sounds about right.

Can you post your dyno?

Cheers ..

Im not questioning his ability, i guess its my fault as i was rushing it a bit as well and asking impossible figure originally, i will post result tomorrow or shall i say later as its already 1.00 am...

I take it all back since I did not realize that we were talking R34GTT ..

I compared the figures to my R33 GTST!

My stock R33 series 1 RB25DET made 188rwkw on 10psi with pod, zaust, fmic, exhaust leak behind turbo and avcr with stock ecu. that figure for 13psi sounds a bit on the shit side of life.

Not really, his result is nice and realistic, it is your result thats a little inflated. Which is normal for some dynos as there is a 10/15 variance easily enough.

Stock RB25 turbos are only good for ~200rwkw @ 11-12psi

I was gonna say...

Maybe so but i still think that is a bit much boost for that power with a modified tune.

My R34 (Tuned by Toshi) running around 12psi, front mount, zorst, walbro (according to psi dyno reading taken from intake plenum) made 195rwkw. My EBC (greddy profec B spec II) reading peaked at 13 but then drops off to about 10.5psi at around 6000rpm. I have about a 1psi diff in boost reading from EBC to boost gauge :-(

Been running between 12-13psi for a year now, no signs of giving way yet, but then again, I use low boost setting alot more than high boost

194rwkw seems about right

But mine is getting boost cut!!! Does urs??

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
