Just got my car back with the side skirts fitted but unpainted. Sounds like it is going back to them tomorrow.

I didn't want to leave my car there because the panel shop would of had to park her on the street over night - So I felt much more comfortable knowing I could have her in my garage safe and secure.

The drive home was horrible knowing I have these 2 big white chunks on the side of my car (My car is dark blue).

I feel like the biggest cop bait in town.

I also felt I should share my pain with everyone :(

don't worry I know how you feel. My friend said he will paint my front bumper and side skirts for me for free i just had to buy paint. Now he has finished it and fitted it. My car is pearl white and the layer of pearl he put on was almost like nothing so part of my car looks white and part of it looks pearl. Need to save up some cash and take it to panel beater and get it done again.

I feel you pain buddy, I had an unpainted BN front bar on my car for almost a year as I destroyed my last front bar and had my full Do-Luck on order (Took 8 months to get a copy). I felt like scum taking my car out with a front bar in primer but the car is at the body shop now so once I get the car back I should be back to the one colour again.

I feel your pain. I had a small paint blemish about the size of a pin head on the underside of the drivers side rear pod. If you got down on your knees you could just see it.

I felt terrible driving around with it there. :whistling:

Shoulda just spent $50 on a can of spray paint and did a home job for the time being :P

I didn't end up returning to the body shop to finish the job. Decided to give it a go myself.

lol - I'm going to end up painting mine on Sunday. Prepping tonight.

Meeting up with sonnyQ tomorrow for tinting - And yes, with unpainted skirts! /cries

Well I did manage to get the car back today. if I have time i might see how I go fitting up those DIY lips from Charles. I might try the carbon wrap on them to. No way in hell I could have done that good a job for $900. They also gave me some paint in a small container for any touchups I need to do and they also went and did the major touch ups for me.

im happy with the result, $900 was for fitting and painting the front and rear bar, re-allignment of my doors (they started to sag), painting some after market mirrors (not on the car atm), touching up the side skirts and they also did a few little touch ups here and there. They even provided me with a small tub of paint incase there was some extra touch-ups i wanted to do myself. They use a camera system to colour match where they take a photo of the paint and tells them what its made up of or something, the guy was telling me about but had to leave in a hurry because there was another guy trying to get out around my car and I didn't trust his driving.

Kit is painted - Did a home job, but quite happy with the result :)

Rear bumper due this Monday.

looks like you took the time to prep it properly, it always pays ten fold...

Yeh its funny how long goes into prepping and painting. I was prepping it slowly over 2 days. Panting - Took maybe 2 minutes per coat and did about 5 coats of each colour/clear.

Time wise, I would say

Prepping: 80%

Painting: 20%

Autobarn at Slacks Creek mixed the colours -> $50 for 500ml (Ask for $40 and they might do it for you hehe). They mix it pretty much spot on. I've tried on many angles and it doesn't look darker or lighter than the body. Looks pretty much spot on. Nice work Autobarn!

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
