JB4U
Hey, Just wanting to know what people think about the Subaru Legacy RSK B4 twin turbo (JDM) 2000 model, with semi-auto transmission. I am looking at one and am not sure if its going to fill my needs. I am wanting a quick car that will be able to keep up with cars like Skyline's and Silvia's but still be reliable. This is what it looks like (Not this car but exactly the same). Few questions, 1. Is this actually the JDM version? 2. Can you mod them (exhaust etc etc) to make quicker? 3. Reckon $11,000 is a good price (in very good condition, engine is A1, really nice leather interior)? PM me or post on here as I am VERY interested in what you guys have to say. Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/374257-subaru-any-good/ Share on other sites
r32-25t
I'd own the next model so that it doesn't have the twin turbos, but 11 doesn't sound like a bad price And yes all the same mods work on these Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/374257-subaru-any-good/#findComment-5969604 Share on other sites

JB4U
Whats wrong with the Twin Turbo's? Reckon it would keep with something like an r33 or s14? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/374257-subaru-any-good/#findComment-5969611 Share on other sites
r32-25t
They are sequential on that model and have a flat spot before the bigger turbo comes on song. with a little bit of fiddling you could make them just a quick as a 33 or the like Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/374257-subaru-any-good/#findComment-5969624 Share on other sites
elrodeo666
Had one of these and a GT Legacy a few years ago in Japan. Heavy foot and they chew through gas like nothing else. JB4U
But when you put your foot down does it go hard? How can i tell if its a JDM version or not? cause i have seen a few different variations of the same year and model car (2000, legacy B4) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/374257-subaru-any-good/#findComment-5970318 Share on other sites
Iron Chef
If it's a Legacy and not a Liberty, it's a JDM model. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/374257-subaru-any-good/#findComment-5970593 Share on other sites
eightsixboy
If you want to mod a car dont buy a Subaru, as soon as you do anything more then a bigger muffler they almost always need a tune, for some reason afr's turn to shit. I used to be into the subies a few years back and they are just a pain in the ass compared to skylines to mod, plus they arnt really built with any real performance in mind, the B4's are meant to be a luxury sport sedan with nice interior and gentle handling. They are great cars but the motors are fragile when modded, i have seen countless ej's end up with piston slap or burnt rings, even just standard ones needing rebuild after they get to around 150,000 + km's. I think if you really like how it drives and the style go for it, just be prepared to get a tune if you get a cat back or boost it a little. $11,000 is about right for one, they seem to be in the $10-15k range. Chris Rogers
says he that owns a STi I own a TT version - stupidly quick loves fuel the second you stand on it. mine lives on a diet of 98 + E85. 60 lt will go in 180km if you boot it everywhere. drive it sedately and it will yield 600 km off 60 lt. mods - forget it , just drive the thing.
