Most recent cars have a clear coat from the factory; are you talking about "Flow Coating"?

i.e.; Rubbing back the factory clear and then Respraying the clear so it can be wet sanded and buffed for a better than factory gloss?

A claybar by itself will not increase the gloss of your paint; it is designed to remove contaminants bonded to the paint, so you can further refine the paint by correction.

It is a step within a process.

Flow coating would be what i am after.

Is it worth it? And what would i be looking at in terms of pricing?

You'd be best to talk to a few spray painters, find out what their opinion is, and whether they'll actually do it.

Depending on the standard of your paint and the straightness of the underlying bodywork; it could be the difference between average and amazing.

I would hazard a guess at over a grand to easily 3 grand. If you want perfection; you'll pay for it.

Manny where are you from? what makes you assume you will need a flow coat and the car is just not covered in shine robbing swirls? have a look at my site www.immaculatereflections.com.au and see some of the cars I have done. I reckong with out seeing the car a good detail is all you would need.

this also means, car gone for ALOT less time, doesnt come back with buffer trails on it from the panel beater "buffing" it, its protected and cofferected properly with the best equipment and methods, and not many painters like "flow coating" its kind of like asking a detailer to "tidy up my engine bay" only if you get what I am saying so they take less pride in it.

Regards,

Mitch

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
