Having moved to Melb in Feb, i was surprise to find just how different the place is.

In general it is all good so far, but i have to ask what is with Chappel Street? The car scene down here is much more Fast and the Furious with decals being more important then quality mods, or is it just the area/cars i have seen.

The pubs/clubs are great, and the ppl are far friendlier then in Sydney... and with the area im in there is a lot less imports getting around, and the term bogan, whilst the term was lost on me in Sydney, having seen plenty of Commodores on Chappel Street the other night...lets just say i now understand the bogan thing.

So when i get my car down next weekend, whats doin? Its been 6 weeks since i have driven the old girl, and 6 months since i have been on the track... i need a fix! :(

Im a big believer in each to their own, but even by my standards its pretty woeful/pathetic to be doing laps around Cahppel. No offence to anyone out their that enjoys it!

Im currently living between Brunswick and Lygon, happy with the location but nothing in the way of cars. Except fo the panel beater down the road that has GT3s and TVRs etc.

yes, Melbourne people are far far friendlier than their Sydney counterparts! and I found that Melbourne as a city is much nicer to be in and around compared to Sydney...

Sydney has so much.........um.........superiority complex? the people I mean....I found them to be that way anyway......no offence to any decent Sydney-ers :-)

MAS sounds like a go then.

Jamezilla... are you the same James i met at the NDSOC meeting the other week? (i was the blonde fella boring Goeff to death)

Have to say, i liked going out to the places on Chappel, just couldnt belive id walk out of a pub 3hrs later to see the same Commodore or BMW doing laps revving them up in neutral.

as an ex NSWer that moved to VIC... WHAT'S DOIN? lol I haven't heard sum1 say that in ages since I moved down... oh glorious what's doin?

As for the bogan scene... the "wogs" here aren't lebs n goat lovers, they're greeks n italians... now one half of em is into imports and the other half is into their commodores... dunno many of em into falcons.

Chapel St sucks ass... its full of excels with stickers n shit.

Black R32 could be me, I park in one of the streets between Brunswick n Nicholson (after Alexander Pde going towards the city) coz my gf lives there. I've got a GTS tho, but you can't tell unless you heard me drive off.

So whats doin is a Sydney thing then????

Hey Funkmonkey, that GTS ive seen a few times would be you then! You seem to spend a bit of time there, has she started hitting you up for board yet? :(

Every Skyline i walk by i check for SAU stickers, havent seen any yet.

KamikazeR33 ... i was down for 3 months, but i just took a full time position, hence yet another change in accomodation...something a little more long term.

Winton runs 2 to 3 days a month, prob is its on Weekdays, so ill have to sweet talk work.

Im going to head down to Calder for the drags to see what i can muster. But Calder circuit, Phillip Island or Sandown are all on my wishlist of nice fast tracks i want to try out

ey man, you're close enough, go to the skyline meet tonight at sam's house (its on Kooyong Rd in toorak) not far from you.

I don't have a sticker on my car yet, but I'll fix that up soon.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
