I removed my RB26 head off of my BNR32 while the motor is still in the car and I was wondering what I can do without while I still have everything accessible. I read somewhere that an RB20 oil filter housing can be used to eliminate the water lines going to the RB26 oil filter housing. What about the water lines running to under the intake manifold?

I am not looking to "shave" my engine bay or anything, just trying to simplify things under the hood and have less things to go wrong.

Thanks,

Are you going to substitute the original oil cooler with a front mount oil cooler? If not, then why the hell would you want to remove it. If I were building any other RB that didn't have the water cooled oil cooler of the later 25s and the 26s, I would be looking to add one as a minimum, and to hell with the extra water lines. They're a price I'd be willing to pay. And why mess about with trying to delete water lines under the inlet manifold? Just replace them with new ones and be happy for another 10 years or more.

hey, i'm in the situation as you. i chose to do the following for my track car build:

-painted the valve covers, intake plenum, and other things

-full hicas delete

-oil cooler ( i chose to leave the stock one in place, but deleted the water lines to it.)

-rear oil drain/breather

-lots of cleaning

It's actually more or less an oil warmer.

Which is a bad thing how? Warms cold oil up a little faster, which is better for the engine, and takes some heat out of the oil (and puts it in the radiator) when the oil is much hotter than the coolant. Just what the doctor ordered.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
