dori34
I am planning the next upgrades for my car and one thing on the list is a decent clutch thats strong enough to hold anywhere from 280-300rwkw and is bearable to drive daily and won't blow up my gearbox. Car in question is a R34 GTT with a built bottom end, currently pushing 245rwkw but stage 2 will be happening early next year. Please list down what clutch you have on your car if you're running anywhere in the 280-300rwkw power range. Clutch type/brand/clamp pressure etc: Lightened Flywheel: Yes/No (If Yes, Brand) Driveability: 1 to 10 (1 being soft as stock, 10 being stiff hard as a rock) Price: Place of purchase: my car will be daily driven with the occasional track/drift/motorkhana day (maybe 6-8 days a year) so i dont want something that will give my left foot some new muscles or something thats got so much clamp force it'll blow my gearbox but it has to be strong enough to withstand up to 300rwkw when the pedal is dropped. im running a R34 RB25DE gearbox which i believe has the same internals strength as a RB20DET gearbox. Please don't advise to get a RB25DET gearbox as it is already on the to do list once my box blows. Look forward your inputs. Thelen
jim berry you'll find to be the most popular to drive daily. clamp power is capable of handling those power easily without almost any change in pedal force or friction points etc. so you know, NO clutches can really withstand 7k+ rpm drops for very long, so i assume u just mean now and again to show off (which you shouldn't do on public roads FYI). 89CAL
NPC Can not think of a single thing wrong with there product or service. Very helpful and my button clutch is amazing, nice and light but bites hard as well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/376014-clutch-talk/#findComment-5997350 Share on other sites
kudos.motorsports
Will you be looking to use an R33 GTS25-t or R34 25GT-t gearbox when you upgrade? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/376014-clutch-talk/#findComment-5997511 Share on other sites
dori34
R33 RB25DET, how come Kudos? yeah JB & NPC were on my list but i was told that the clamp force on the JB might be too much and may blow my box lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/376014-clutch-talk/#findComment-5998510 Share on other sites
kudos.motorsports
That you're going with an R33 box you'll be able to reuse whatever clutch you now purchase. I can offer a modified Exedy Sports Organic that will hold the power you require, I'll send you a PM with details. Thelen
hmmm, im not sure about that. once the clutch is engaged the shock will be the same regardless of the clamp force. so only thing i can think of is if it engages heaaaaps faster. but, never heard of that, and JB clutches are well known in high power applications, even with crappy gboxes, so... :S Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/376014-clutch-talk/#findComment-5999958 Share on other sites

Sorry but I disagree. The JB clutched car that I drove I wouldnt like in my own car. It was a light switch! Nismo twin plate. Done, done, done.I have done 40 8000 RPM launches in 1 day and it has felt the same in the afternoon. The same clutch has been in the car for 6 years and holding over 400 RWKW. Elvis; I know 3 people who bought JB clutches and later regretted it. If you're not fussed on budget get a Nismo twin plate, if thats too expensive get something like an Exedy single - for daily driving they're pretty decent. I think the sports organic was the one Dave has, it's easy to drive but i'm not sure on the power rating so you'd have to check that Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/376014-clutch-talk/#findComment-6000080 Share on other sites
SargeRX8
Give KB Clutch Engineering a call. He made me a custom 5 puk carbotic button clutch. Ive got the SS2, big power, huge torque, lighter than my old "OE replacement" clutch was. $380. 380 for a f**king clutch to hold 300rwkw and 700nm torque! Not too sure how long these carbotic clutches last but he said it all comes down to the driver and how its used. My car is a daily, this clutch has been in there for almost a year now and no issues here. When this one gives up, I know where I will be getting my rebuild from. dori34
Thanks for the info Steve! ive got a HD sports organic now and i will see how it goes once i up the power but its held my current power fine with daily driving and a few skid pan/khanas. i like the pedal feel on this so anymore stiff i wont enjoy it so much for daily, If my wallet permits i will def go with a nismo but it doesnt SargeRX8, i will give KB a call and speak to them to see what they can recommend. however i initially was gonna go with NPC but since KB is in Sydney, they will be a better option.
