Mine converted from NA to stock turbo FUAAARKKKK, pushed u back into the seat so hard, quicker than my 33 by far. How I miss my BBQ-747 :(

How come you don't have it now?

I stupidly decidedly to go through a yellow light, guy sitting in the middle of the intersection assumed I wouldn't so he started to cut across (he was turning right) and realised I was still coming so he just stopped dead in the middle of my lane, brakes on VLs not so good... Live and learn, I don't risk it with yellow lights anymore and I keep my distance because when it comes down to it, chances are your brakes aren't gonna be as good as you expect them to be.

Oh and this was only a 40/50kmh hit by the time I'd braked, massive kick in the roof, whole chassis twisted.

My parents actually want me to get a BMW, and I'm actually a pretty good driver which is why my parents want me to get one.

Yea, I love to speed and shit, but I know when to do it.

I want a nice first car haha :P

As opposed to those people who speed and don't know when to do it...

Overconfidence in one's driving abilities and perception of risk/danger is THE cause of every accident that came about from doing something silly.

There are good arguments for and against doing this. I don't want to raise my kids to depend on safety features that may not be in other cars they drive. My brother got used to big brakes and ABS in his company car...started driving an old Prelude around for a few weeks and went straight up the ass of the car in front. Won't happen to everyone, but we are definitely dumbing down driving ability with the latest cars.

These safety features can also result in over confidence for some people. I'd rather them be driving in a car they are scared to even do the speed limit in. Also better to lose it around a corner in a car that can't hold 30km/h than one that breaks the threshold at 80...if they have the wrong attitude, they're going to push the limits of the car on the road no matter how safe the car is.

and i appreciate what i have, if i get a car it'll be my baby, clean it every week, all that sorta shit.

I don't have anything against people who have their cars bought for them, but you will nowhere near appreciate the possession on the same level as if you bought it yourself. I have had things bought for me and I have bought them myself...the latter is always much better looked after and enjoyed.

birds, i dunno man, i'm pretty bloody appreciative trust me, i don't take anything for granted. i do buy things for myself with my own money but whatever i see as being 'mine' i treat with respect :)

and VL turbo flutters <3 dose itttt.

Most people on this forum love speed and drifting but don't mention "on the roads" in the same sentence otherwise you'll be off to a bad start on this forum :P

nahh drifting isn't on the roads, that's in parking lots LOL.

oh well, doesn't bother me haha.

are there any drift meets or races (organised on a course) held anywhere? pretty keen to check em out when i have the opportunity.

true birds but like i said for me, i like having 11bty airbags for every part of my body together with every electronic safety measure possible...

if i can afford it my kids would have that not some clapped out stinker.

It's not about how much you take care of the thing or respect it, plenty of people do that, it's a level of deep appreciation for that object. The simple fact is that when you buy something for yourself, it's not just a possession to you, it represents all the hours of hard work you poured into earning that possession. Same theory applies to building a car project or buying one off someone else.

I understand that there's more compression, trust me it was straight gas turbo converted by me and a mate and took a lot of road testing to tune, I know how it worked. I'll be getting another one next year no doubt about it.

Also the 3L and bigger Turbo definitely help ;)

do you know a chris theo by any chance?

+1 Birds. Completely agree with cars taking a lot of thinking out of the equation.

For an example, reverse cameras, great invention. As soon as you become dependant on them, jump in a car that doesnt have them. Lets see how well you reverse.

These things are bloody quick and you can drive on your P's and have something both cool and rare, you would be pretty hard pressed to see another of these on the road, I've never seen one in Vic in the last 10 years!

      I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.

      Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!

      I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)

      I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
