You may end up ordering from Peter Stevens of you're buying a lot of stuff and some is on sale. My gear from there was only $100 more expensive all up than online, worth it given you can take it back there for faults and don't have to wait for shipping.

You may be right brah, did a quick add-to-cart sesh, and works out a bit more than $100. I suppose if they can give me a discount for buying everything just from them, it could be worth it.... although that's $100 extra I have for bike/insurance/what have you... However no waiting around for shipping etc would be sweet as...

WILL STRONGLY CONSIDER.

I only bought pants and a jacket that was already on sale...he knocked $100 or so off the price for me. So don't be afraid to haggle in store, especially on clearance or sale stock that they wanna move out the door. And dont tell em you're looking at all the gear straight up, just say you're interested in a jacket or helmet or something...that way he feels he's upselling you and is more likely to shave dollars off to make you buy more shit. Peter Stevens Ringwood has some good guys who will do deals on stuff for you.

And remember, the gear should be snug. Not unbearably tight, but that shit should hug you. You don't wear safety gear loose like clothes; you don't want anything to move around while riding or if you come off. The leather will stretch in time as you wear it more and then you'll get more movement out of it. Try on absolutely everything too - Alpinestars had 5 or 6 different jackets that all looked similar in design and price...but 1 really stood out for me; felt more comfortable than the rest, so I'm glad I tried them all on. It wasn't the most expensive one either!

Love the rasp that throttle bodies give high up. And they make small engines sound so beastly down low. Listen to the idle of this C20XE (2 litre N/A) at around 50 seconds...

Yeah as I expected, sounds awesome

Will be missing yum cha as I told Alvin, clutch and gearbox going back in that day as it's the only day mechanic is free

and when he is doing free labour you take what you can

He the guy with the bald/shaved head? If so, he's the one who cut my deal on the Alpinestars gear. Very good guy to deal with.

Went there today! Didn't see Pas until the very end, so didn't actually deal with him - guy named Luke helped me out. I didn't buy anything today, but he quoted me a pretty sweet price for everything with a nice ~$100 odd discount as well like you guys said ; so I think I will buy from them :)

Was going to go with 2012 helmet on clearance for $430... but then he could get 2013 new model for $450, lols... So...

:D

So excited.

I might go for a ride after gym tonight, weather is nice - jelly? :P

Yes :(

Well after gym tonight I'll go to sleep to get up nice and early so I can ride tomorrow, at least! :D

EDIT: Jacket size was a bit annoying though. Deciding between 50 & 52...

What's your height and weight?

Better be snug. If I can fit my hand between you and your jacket...well then I'm gonna fit my hand between you and your jacket.

checking out a mates KTM 990SM today, they any good?

they're not bad from what I know (never actually ridden one), I like the ktm 990 dukes a bit more though pretty sure they're the same engine which is good

I'm a short kent, I think 165-170cm, ~75kg (but this will continue to drop a bit, dat cut ;) )

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
