lilcrash
Lol. I knew what you meant. Just so you all don't think I'm driving around before it tested. I'm driving my parents camry until I get the results. Crans
You seem to have as much luck as I do with cars. Hopefully you get some good news with the oil sample Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/27/#findComment-6252412 Share on other sites

pipster11
i think you are supposed to disconnect the tps and idle valve, set the idle speed to spec then check the timing tps disconnected stops the timing shifting around or you can do it from a pc if you have a nistune cable and the right software Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/27/#findComment-6252458 Share on other sites
lilcrash
Oh. I just had the laptop on and matched the timing mark to what the screen said. 15degrees. The mark was moving with the display when it fluctuated so I'm guessing it should be close. Rolls
Just to add to my awesome. I think my front seal is leaking If you don't want to pull it apart just spread high temp sealant on the outside, unless it is pissing out it will fix it. Looks a bit messy though. lilcrash
It looks like it might just be the sump seal. Il degrease it all and smear some sealant in and see how It goes. Hanaldo
Yeh sucks, I just did the sump gasket in my EL. Not a whole lot of fun. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/27/#findComment-6252725 Share on other sites
Rolls
High temp sealant is pretty amazing stuff, every leak I've put it on has fixed it. Of course if you can take the item off and do it properly I would recommend that though. lilcrash
sadly if it is the sump seal the engine would need to come out so yeah thats not gonna happen, i cant handle that nightmare again. 75coupe
Think of it as long term investment, do the hard yards now, when u have a child running around you will appreciate it I reckon... Pretty impressed you've gone through with this build this far. Rolls
Same, good learning experience taking engines out, building them etc. Does kind of drive home the point about do it once do it properly and paying someone for a top notch block all assembled though when things go wrong. Anyway I hope it works out for you, worst case you will be far more knowledgeable than when you started. I know taking engines out and playing mechanic was a great learning experience for myself. lilcrash
If it didn't have a pull clutch it wouldn't be so bad. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/27/#findComment-6253134 Share on other sites
lilcrash
ok it definitely is the front main seal, there is a splatter around the balancer and i don't think the sump is squirting so yeah. so yay i get to pull my belts off and my covers off and my balancer off and my oil pump off and timing belt off and then re do them all Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/27/#findComment-6254976 Share on other sites
Hanaldo
Could be worse When do you get the oil test results back? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/381350-thread-for-my-car-problems/page/27/#findComment-6254981 Share on other sites
Rolls
Oil pump is a sump off job I hate to say. I had a leaking oil pump seal so just do the high temp sealant on the outside and it fixed it right up.
