Hey Guys,

A run down of the story

Travelling home from work and got defected by the Rosehill highway patrol (if any of you guys are in western sydney im sure some of you would have come across these bunch of Cu$#@#$ !!!

Got defected for the below

1 headlight out (electrical problem which has been fixed)

BOV (which is plumb back, although the officer stated he was not a mechanic and is putting it down as he see's it, then how can you defect me for it ?? his response was mate the mechanic will need to check that)

Exhaust checked for compliance

Horn wasn't working (Fixed)

Battery not secure (Fixed)

POD filter (Fixed)

Defect is for a full inspection blue slip

Problem is it's a full inspection and im in need of a mechanic who is quite lenient on blue slips etc etc

Taking it back to standard is just not worth it, too many non standard parts welded diff to start off with which makes me think a engineering cert may not even help but correct me if im wrong

anyone feel free to PM me if they are uncomfortable with posting up names on here

Got defected for having an illegal car...and not only that, your horn didnt work, you had 1 head light etc

and they're a bunch of dream boats huh?

They wont know it is a welded diff unless they drive it, if they question it tell them it is an aftermarket LSD

As for the exhaust, make sure there is a standard cat in there and that it is quiet and you shall be right

The horn and lights fair enough i knew what was wrong with the car and didn't dispute any of it apart from the bov, the way in which this officers attitude was that got me shitty, just venting mate i know there doing there job but when they don't speak to you like a human being that gets me pissed.

Their....

LOL @ attempting to make a correction, and even the correction is wrong!

They're = abbreviation for they are. Example: "They're going to check over your car for defects."

Their = denotes ownership. Example: "Their car is bound to be full of defects."

There = a place or location. Example: "Who owns that car over there? I bet when the cops pull him/her over, it's gonna be defect city for that poor sucker..."

Their still valid.

Haha

gotten a little off topic now... i help get back,

As far as i know, you can not engineer an aftermarket BOV that makes a noise due to no factory car comming with one... Therefore all BOVs that make a noice are defect...

eg: HID lights were always defect untill cars like the S2000 and M3 started using them. Now everyones got them.

It's not due to cars not coming out with them, it's due to emissions.

aftermarket hid's aren't legal mate. Just because a car has something doesn't make it legal on another car, as the car that has it obviously complies with ADR.

And to the OP, it's called the appearance method. If you're car appears to be in good condition and not either a hunk of junk or a full blown race car that sounds like a jet taking off, chances are you'll be sweet.

If i was a cop and I'd pull over the car that only has one headlight, and then when i found out the horn wasnt working and the battery wasn't secure, i'd go over the car with a fine tooth comb.

It a pain in the ass but if you want to drive a modified car on the street, you need to adhere to the appearance method as closely as possible.

You are 1000% correct!

Bob.

My appearance of being older than I really am must have helped over the ownership of 3 grey import-GT-Rs I'm sure :P

    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
    • I hear that would involve some nice country road drives into the hills for Mark...
    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
