hahah Like I said, best I can manage with a welder is making holes in stuff that shouldn't have holes in it. But yes good cages seem to be a bit of a black art, which is why I will only ever get one from guys who have been doing/perfecting it for years

Good question. Part of the learning experience. We hadnt thought of the harness bar because i hadnt planned on running a harness yet. Ill upload more pics i just took later.

The rear legs are directly behind each seat in the middle so it may be possible to weld a harness tab and run two straps from a single point. ?

Or we can weld the harness bar between the main hoop

Yeh, harness bar in the main hoop is probably best anyway. Some argue that longer harness means in a big accident the longer belts stretch a little (we are talking mms not inches) and this flexibility reduces internal organ damage due to high Gs. Of course being shorter if the car distorts your belts are less likely to loosen as things move....but main reason I like harness bar between struts rather than the main hoop is acces and putting rims etc in the back seat even though you have a cage

any plans for cages to suit different cars?

i have a s13 and am looking for a cams approved bolt in half cage with a diagonal cross bar between the rear legs and a harness bar across the main hoop.

only thing is im located in tasmania so i couldnt offer my car even as a demo

Roy- didnt you remove a brown Davis cage for a Pro Fabrication cage?!??

Yep, The Brown Davis cage was similar to what I have now...but I couldnt recline seats all the way back as my Momo seat is quite wide and used to hit it. Also didnt have a diagonal in the main hoop which i was worried would limit access for rims and tools. Pro Fabrications did a top job to package the bolt in cage far tighter to the body, provide a diagonal in the main hoop all whilst giving me the same, if not more rear access for storage of stuff when getting to/from the track

To everyone else that will no doubt read this... Read on.

Starting in 2012 the Fabrication section will be clamped down on. You guys know who you are that are getting some good business from posting a "what I've been up to" thread.

This is your prior chance do the right thing and become traders as an act of good faith, or run the risk of not being able to post here at all.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
