well its that time for a change and with three main options ahead of me i look to my fello skyline members for advice!!!

well here it is,

A) i currently own a 95 GTST skyline and i absouloutly love it but spend roughly $7,000 and it would be heaven, do these prices sound wright?

GT 3040 600HP Ball Bearing Turbo

(.82 exh and .70 comp) $2,890.00

TIAL SPORTS 38mm External Wastegate $695.00

Exhaust Flange $50.00

Modified Manifold to suit $690.00

Braided oil and water lines $220.00

Total price for kit $4,545.00

then probably $2,000 for a micro tech or Apexi power FC.

so is it worth it? has anyone done this? what RWKW would i be looking at?? will my stock internals hold up???

option B) sell the car and begin settling down and look at a house and some other sort of future investment.

or and i know this will be the most popular C) sell GTST and buy GTR!

thank you for your time all opinions will be greatly appreciated.

lol.. i think every skyline owner goes through this after owning it 6-12 months :D

That sounds like a reasonable budget, but don't forget the labour costs can add up, unless you are doing it yourself. Oh, and you'll need 6x new injectors and a Z32 AFM or equivelent. You could probably get 300rwkw with that setup. Inasnt currently went similar and pushing 330rwkw i think at the moment. Will give any stockish GTR a great run.. Anyhow, I await his "bullshit you can do it for $7k" sometime soon

Problem with the GTR is you'll just want to do it all again.. and seeing as the initial purchase price of the GTR is much higher, in the end up works out much more expensive.

House is safe.. but then again you're only young once, and telling the kids how you bought a house at age 20 might sound cool, its kinda dull. And when you explain the next 20 years it took to pay it off you couldn't afford to go out, see the world, or actually have fun. But the GTR on the otherhand... :)

Going for A you definitely must allow more than $7k.

With obvious upgrade of pwr you should remember maintenance and running cost. 400hp engine drinks more fuel than 300hp engine and cost more to maintain, especially if the internals finally let go (metal fatique due to age).

Going for B is the wisest choice. Although there are ups and downs in property market, in general property prices has hardly ever depreciated. Beside, there are other things in life beside cars cars cars and cars. Remember: car values always depreciate, a wise investment will appreciate.

Going for C would be the most popular, I agree, as I wish for a GTR too. But if you start doing your GTR like what you would do for A, wouldn't you be in the same boat again in the next couple of years? But it will surely be lots of fun in C.

The choice is yours..... consider how much time you got, what you wanna achieve in the future, and when do you wanna achieve that.

All the best, mate. :)

The wiser person would say B. If you rent it out you may have to add a bit on top for the monthly repayments. It adds equity to your name as a home owner. A good 2 or 3 years later you can go back to the loan company and ask for that R34 GTR Nur and extra if you want to mod it. That way you get all A, B and C. :P

Well, you're a lucky man to have so many good choices. Why not invest in shares and make money and save to buy your GTR in a couple years maybe and then you'll have even more $$$ for mods...

Your still young so driving the GTST as it is isn't so bad is it??? or spend half the cash on a highflow or something and invest the rest.

Good luck

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
