Hey guys so i got pulled over yesterday morning and defected for intercooler and pod filter. Cop said my pod was straight up illegal and i think the intercooler part was the fact i have a big hole next to my washer bottle for my I/c piping to go through from my front facing plenum. So he wrote me a defect that has to be cleared at an authorised inspection station. lol wtf. This stuff is legal in QLD. Going to get it cleared this week but just wondering about the pod filter sitaution O_o

As soon as i knew i was being pulled over, hid my PFC controller and played the innocent polite person that i really am (but to the max lol). No fine,no points lost and he didnt defect me for everything else i potentially could have been done for. like too low, possibly too loud, atmo bov, front facing plenum?,EMS,coilovers, boost controller and whatever else... lol

also do i legally have to get this defect cleared when i have a qld license and qld registration? what could happen if i dont get it cleared?

cheers guys.

Even though you car is regod in qld (your licence has nothing to do with it), the car must comply with the state that you are driving it.

At the end of the day if you never ever plan on driving in nsw again, you dont have to get the defect cleared, although bare in mind that the car will be defected in NSW.

Your best bet as you stated is to get the defect cleared. Before you do, i would call the RTA just explain how you were on holidays travelling when you got pulled over and got done and you car is legal in QLD. The phone call might not do anything, or you may be able to get it thrown away.

Give TMR a call a check to make sure you have no defect recorded against your ergo, if not, your clear. The RTA and TMR systems never speak to each other properly so even though he's flicked you a canary, it won't be lodged against your rego.

The only problem down here seems to be EPA. Nothing else has been lodged against my rego by NSW police.

Yeah pretty sure it wont be but i had to get it cleared down here as i travel to NSW usually once a week.

Dont worry about it if you're just passing through. My problem is that i visit NSW regularly. And as a general rule they dont pay too much attention QLD cars.

I live in NSW with my car still registered in QLD. I have never been stopped to be defected to date. Speeding, only once but I learnt my lesson. Then again, the cops here probably have no idea what a Stagea is.

  • 4 weeks later...

Are Defects attached to the rego or the Vin?

Anonymously, why don't you call VEDA Ph: 1300.921.621 after 8.30am Mon and do a self-check?

Perhaps even reply to my thread http://www.skylinesa...-override-revs/ ???

^ ^ ^ This National system started 12 days ago.

I wouldn't mind seeing the outcome...

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
