Hi all, I dont like making new posts, but iv searched for an hour about bloody oil filters and here is my problem:

I got a genuine filter from the local nissan P/N 15208-53JOA told him i had an rb25det.. Filter box does say rb26dett, and is a pretty small unit.

I bought 6 online for a great price from U.S. and they are P/N 15208-55YOA and they are a bigger unit, like z145a. Box says for most of the vg series engines.

I cant find info on the difference between the two, which one really is the rb25 genuine part?

Ill think of everything else i was gonna ask in a minute... thanks

Dunno I use the Nismo veruspeed one - so long as they fit and you change them regularly I don't think it matters too much. If want bigger some guys here are using an aircraft filter!

Im not too sure about that. A local performance garage told me that a customer supplyed them and genuine nissan oil filter, they put it on and started the car and the oil pissed out. Apparently the guy got a filter for a s13 SR not a s14 SR. I don't look up much SR stuff through work but i can tell you i wouldn't be trying any old filter that look like it's the same even if the filter looks fine.

Come to think of it we had a K12 micra towed into work and another workshop fitted a later model micra oil filter, done the same and dropped the oil.

If i was at home on my computer i would look up on Fast for you. But im pretty sure the above is correct.

R33 S1 and S2 over here will be 15208-H890C

Neo's are 15208-31U0B from memory. Or 15208-53JOA i think.

So its different numbers to the states?? so why would they send me 55YOA? I did order by engine model not part number. A bit confusing?

I would say so as i have never seen that part number for an oil filter. Unless its a supersession to come but i highly dought it. That oil filter might be correct over there but not here! Maybe they sent one for a completly different motor..

15208-H890C is what you want, in Australia the code for this part is H8911AU.

They are compatible with the following cars

- Nissan S13 (CA18DE)

- Nissan S13 (CA18DET)

- Nissan 300ZX (VG30DE)

- Nissan 300ZX (VG30DETT)

- Nissan Skyline R32 GTS (RB20DE)

- Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T (RB20DET)

- Nissan Skyline R33 GTS (RB25DE)

- Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T (RB25DET)

- Nissan Skyline R32 GTR (RB26DETT)

- Nissan Skyline R33 GTR (RB26DETT)

- Nissan Stagea WGNC34 (RB25DET)

Yeah nah it's 15208-H890C over here in Australia. I have no idea what 15208-H8911AU would be as the part number is way too long..Unless it's an old part number. Last i checked it was H890C.

I have never run a Nissan oil filter I know cars running 300+ kw with out a Nissan one it's better to buy the filter you know fits rather then muck around buying it from the states it will only be on there 5 to 10 thousand km If serviced properly

or just get a genuine filter from your local nissan dealership, they're always in stock and not much more than a ryco. yer the rycos are fine, but the nissan filter is a little better

I did this, and ended up with the wrong one ermm.gif will contact local dealer monday.

And im going genuine for the quality. i used ryco's before but this build will only see genuine for now..

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
