ok your not against what i said, is still dont find it coincidental that he has more then likely spun a bearing after a 0-180km run

Im sure when nissan did their tests on the RB26 it wasnt on an engine with 355rwhp,

the stock sump works fine for a stock car but when the engine is making more then 100hp over factory specs then reliablity starts to decrease and things do go wrong

anyway... i know of a few people that run 6L in their GTR's...GTRSEAN has figured it out that 6L is low enough to prevent the crank whipping through the oil in the sump

So, if the oil is not in the sump, where is it?

How the could the head flood with oil? I would have though it was obvious that this would happen before the sump is empty.

You can still have some oil in the sump and not have it picked up...

For example, the engine is operating at high rpm like in this instance.. some of the oil in the head and is unable to drain back quick enough

The oil that is left in the sump is subject to G forces and is being pushed up against the rear of the sump..

It is entirely possible for the pickup to not be getting enough oil to supply the engine

I always run 6L for safety.

GTR Joey is right, and it only takes the pickup a second to miss oil and damage is done.

any -ve's on running extra litre of oil?

commie u mean ? imo u cant hurt anythin by adding a max of 1 litre extra oil to an engine. if u are doin a track day or drifting u need to keep the pickup submerged at all times. xr6 t's hold 7l stock so ive never over filled mine.

Similar way that i spun a bearing. Whilst giving it a spirited run, the fitting that came off the block for the oil cooler and relocator failed.. Causing me to lose a substantial amount of oil..

Even though this is an extreme example of oil starvation, it still gives merit to the importance of oil control and supply.

OP, search for "oil control in rb's" .. Will give you good insight to the nature, and resolution, of the problem which you faced.

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
