Just read from start to finish!

Hope your next tune isn't a disappointment like the others.

My car got finished tonight with the SS1PU install.

Took me over a week to fit everything right and make sure its all good.

Tomorrow I am topping her up with some much needed oil + coolant and on Sunday I will be at DVS's workshop tuning

I look forward to seeing the end result of your fuel line setup, it will give me some guidance on mine.

Where did u end up sourcing the braided line and speed low fitting?

is it Teflon inner braided line?

Yes I remember you asked about it in the other thread, I was going to notify you when I was sure it all worked. Got everything from speedflowdirect.com, by far the cheapest prices I have found on Speedflow stuff.

Unfortunately my excitement from earlier today has petered out into yet more frustration and disappointment. The f**king fittings don't fit the hose. As in, they fit... But they aren't tight. If I pull on them hard enough I can pull the fitting straight off the end. Not good. Did a bit of research on the Speedflow website, and I think the issue is that the 100 series fittings I bought are not compatible with the 200 series braided hose that I got. Which is f**king annoying because I emailed them and asked them what I needed and they gave me the list, so for it to now not work is really god damn frustrating.

I'm confused though because 200 series hose is the only hose you can use for unleaded fuel line, and 100 series fittings are the red and blue anodized fittings. Obviously there are cars everywhere sporting the 100 series fittings for their fuel lines, so what fkn hose are they using or what am I missing? So damn annoyed right now, had hoped the car would be back together this weekend and now I'm back to square one with no idea where to start. Not happy.

ahhh yeah 200 series hose isnt compatible with 100 series fittings...

the 200 series fittings are made to specifically hold the teflon, 100 is made to hold the rubber core...

bugger, surely they will exchange that...

You can use the 100 series hose they just dont guarantee that it wont give out a vapour smell.

I can pull the fitting off the end of the line with just my hands. There's no way I'll be using that on my car.

Means weeks of waiting.

I don't want the 200 series fittings either, they are hideous. They also don't make the ones I need. There is no 180 degree fitting in the 200 series, so it won't fit, I need the 180 degree fitting.

yeah I noticed there is no 180 degree series 200 fitting as well...

the black and blue isnt that bad, I just see it as specialised fuel fitting, function over form is always best for reliability and from a 'do it right first time' point of view...

and you cant use the series 100 hose for E85 either...

what are you going to do...?

Well yes, but had I known I couldn't use these fittings I would have just bought some EFI hose from my local Hose Co. for $7 a meter, I went with the $30-a-meter-braided hose (which I've now cut so won't be getting my money back for) with these fittings because I thought it would really finish off the HKS rail and Plazmaman.

No idea what I'm going to do. It's pretty much $200 wasted, I can't use any of it. I can't even use the braided line for anything else now because I've already cut it. Honestly don't know what I'm going to do, I guess I have to try just sending the fittings back and getting them replaced with 400 series, but that puts the whole project on the back-burners now.

suck... I cant believe they recommended those products to go together for you...

you know speedflow australia are pretty helpful guys and know thier distributors, and if youve purchased products off their recommendation surely the distributor can compensate or replace them.

they have sold you incompatible products...

Yeh I just called them up and they seemed very helpful, but essentially said there is nothing they can do. They are happy to exchange the fittings, but I have to pay for postage which is $15 each way and it will take a few weeks.I may as well just go and get some cheap Eaton fittings locally and save paying for postage and weeks of downtime. This is a right pain in the ass seeing as these fittings are what I am waiting on to get the car back together.

My other option is to head down to Go Gear, my local Speedflow supplier. They've got the fittings I need in stock, and apparently there is a 200 series -6 180 degree hose end. Just means I will have paid $105 for these two fittings. All because people can't do their god damn job.

I didnt mean you can use the fittings, you cant use 100 fitting on 200hose they are different, what I meant was you can use 100 series hose instead of 200 the only reason it is not recomended because it lets out petrol vapour if the hoses are in cabin.

Fair enough, misunderstood you.

Petrol vapour is flammable... Doesn't sound like a quality idea to me?

Well your normal standard rubber hoses that are used in cars are the same they let out a smell aswell, I guess vapour is not the best word more let off a smell. Its strange I checked on the website and previously it used to say 100 200 and the normal rubber hoses can be used with fuel but only the 200 if its in cabin but now it just says not suitable for fuel would be interesting to see what has changed.

since they fked up, surely they can pay postage for you to send it back to get it exchanged and sent back to you at no cost??!!

if they dont, thats pretty poor customer service.

They will pay for standard postage. I need these parts so I want express postage, I would have to pay for that. Even with express postage I'm looking at 2 weeks of waiting. I could have the car together and tuned in that time. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and head down to my local supplier, I can't wait for postage. I mean I could have everything back together tonight, or I could sit on my hands for a couple of weeks. Anyone wanna buy some 100 series fittings? confused.gif

Fark! What a dilemma!!! I left this thread thinking you would be up and running when i got back.... This sux man!

Well even without this I wouldn't be up and running yet because the intercooler piping looks like it's going to be a hell of a job. But it is annoying. I've decided I'm not waiting for postage, I'm heading down to Go Gear later so I'll get it all plumbed up tonight. Injectors should be online by tonight as well, I just haven't been in the mood to put the new pins on yet. So it will be mostly back together, just the catch can and piping to sort out.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
