I dont believe they are.... However its worth a check just incase, i think the body shapes are different which means the flanges wont line up :(

Well they look quite similar in shape:

Tial%2044mm.jpg

But I doubt a 44mm gate will fit onto a 40mm v-band? My setup is also relatively tight, so I doubt a 44mm gate setup will fit. Also might not be a good idea to get the tune done using a 44mm when I plan on using a 40mm, not sure how much it would affect flow and efficiency, but possibly a fair bit. Thanks though mate!

My tial mvs 44mm is smaller then a normal tial 44mm. So maybe able to try one of them? Could turbosmart email you the specs of the sleeve and get one machined locally?

Yehhh they won't, they want the money themselves which is understandable.

Just had a real good look around the shed and it's no where to be found, so now the quest begins to find one I can borrow this week! :/

I think its only the diaphragm bit thats different, the body still looks similar man!

Good luck mate, i hope you find one!

Updates in here hanaldo

He hasn't got a leg to stand on :P

No really, both the car and him were undergoing work yesterday so updates may take a day or two, hope it's good news on both accounts :D

Haha will hopefully update later today lads, surgery went well but unfortunately I won't be able to drive for a few days :( talk about a tease!? trying to sort out a couple of mates to drive me in and drive the car home. Sort of have to, tuner doesn't have space to hold on to it :/

Glad to hear it went well mate :D When is it going on the dyno? Yesterday? Today? Dont hold us in suspense for too long :P

Haha oh I thought you'd seen the Hypergear thread. The car is all done, it was the only car my tuner had to tune yesterday. He texted me this last night:

"Car went OK. Didnt ooze hp unfortunately. It doesn't like boost at all. It appears there is a restriction at around 340 or 350 hp. After that it doesn't make good hp. 20 psi is hardly any more powerful than 16 or 17 psi which indicates a flow restriction or bad intercooler that has pressure restriction. It went about 350 at 18 psi but went almost the same hp at 16 psi. Needs pipework fixed up. Blew 2 pipes off. Base timing was 10 degrees out. Very hard work."

So it's not perfect. But it's my car, so it was never going to run smoothly. I am just happy it made it off the dyno in one piece and didn't commit suicide again :glare: anyway, for now I'm happy. I now intend to hammer the thing at Powercruise, drive it and enjoy it for a bit, and then see what needs doing.

Just gonna copy/paste from the Hypergear thread, cos I'm lazy :P

So here's my graph:

308158_10151035475112541_1218309130_n.jpg

Red line is high boost setting at 18psi, blue line is low boost setting at 16psi with the gain set more conservatively to bring it on slower. You can see there isn't a lot of difference in the power output between the two settings. Compared to the previous tune at Allstar, I have picked up almost 1500rpm of response though. Full boost used to be at almost 5500rpm; now it's at about 4100rpm. So it's a totally different beast. This is even more responsive than my old G2 used to be, so the new setup is doing something right.

Still can't drive it myself though, stupid pain medication :(

And here is the video I posted in there as well:

Glad to hear its back on the road and running!

Sounds like there could be some more left in it with some further tweaks, but probably best to just enjoy it for a while for now

How did you find Garage 101 overall? Hopefully not too much longer until I can speak to them about tuning my car.

Highly recommend them dude. Danny was great, very very helpful. He didn't come across as just being interested in making more money, he seemed like he genuinely WANTS to tune my car. Walked me through everything he did, couldn't get hold of me while I was in hospital so he texted me instead, gave me a list of things he thinks might be causing the restriction and where to start, etc. Whole thing only cost me $715 as well, $550 for the tune (complete retune, he didn't use any of Allstar's settings) and he needed to weld some pipes for me, etc.

Awesome, can't wait to get mine done :)

Bit of the first cruise session from Powercruise yesterday:

Mate who filmed this has a video on his phone of the second cruise session with SimonR32 walking all over me :P will get it from him.

    • I was 99% sure the standard one is long enough to get there, you might just have to change the throttle orientation. If not, I remember someone having used an r31 cable instead, but that is probably harder to find than r33 by now...
    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
