and do what ever else is needed to get the car running so i hope i'm easy sailing next week.

3.0 litre conversion, T51SPL Kit etc etc etc... Sounds fair. Taking your locker and giving you back a stocker? Not fair.

Adrian

I know its worth a bit had a guesstimate from WA Suspensions that they are about $1500 so i would've expected to get at least $900 if i had to go to the trouble of taking it off, being without a car indefinitely while i wait and check over someone elses and organising for it to be put in etc. then wondering later on if it will bugger up.

I got told by SST that i'd be looking at only $650 for it and a 2nd hand standard is about $400. can anyone clarify this?

I'm hell broke atm still trying to sell off the stereo, Pioneer p9250 deck and DDDrive speakers, for 5 weeks and had no bites.

I can't take a corner around a cop without them tailing me a for a bit cause of the noiseand the skipping is getting on my nerves so i think its just convenience.

If I swapped it with someone else i would have to get theirs checked out which is time i don't have or unless someone offers me a decent money offer i'm a bit stuck.

I've learnt how to drive it without the rears skipping all over the place, you just don't accelerate when you go around tight slow corners.

Also, like I said before, it helped heaps when I changed the oil in it, plus I used the additive.

For a while there I hated my 2 way, then once I got used to it and changed my driving style a little I'd never get rid of it.

Yeah i've tried not accelerating around corners but it still clunks along because i think its the gear being engaged in neutral no noise at all but I still remember in the driving test that it is dangerous to coast around without the gear engaged incase you have to steer outta danger. So from what you are saying is to just coast through the corners?

sorta tried that but i just can't seem to get it to maintain speed it either goes really slow and slows down during the turn or it goes too fast.

Sort of, but not in neutral.  You leave it in the gear you want, and just use neutral throttle...  You know when you can press the accelerator just enough to maintain speed, not speed up or not slow down, just maintain speed.

Ahhh, I understand.

Sounds like your diff is really tight, or locks up pretty fast etc...

A change of oil could work, but make sure you use the right type of oil etc...

Or you could go ahead with what your planning to do and swap it with a stocker.

J

I'd love a 2-way diff.  Ungrateful so and so...  ;)

Adrian

You'll have to try and get your hands on a cheap one :P

I'd love to see someone do a back-to-back comparison between a stock LSD and a 2 way on the 1/4 mile..

Might just get you a few more 1/10's of a second lower.

J

The viscous LSD's actually take a few 10th's of a second to lock... so off the line wheelspin is usually induced by uneven power distribution.

if your using a locker, or a mech LSD, off the line power distribution is pretty much 50/50 - allowing a more predictable launch, and minimal wheelspin related to uneven power distribution.

i got a 8 1/4 inch LSD in a 2 tonne car..... and drifting is a dream... you can have a coffee and doghnut while drifting... and even better in the rain.. Very predictable...

Had a "Lock diff" *coughweldcough* in a Skyline.. and it was shite for drifting

    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
    • Yes then it will turn on but I want the car features to work
    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
