Car Won't Start When It's Hot

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I have a R33 GTS-T2 and I am having trouble with it starting when the engine is hot. I recently had some work done to it tune up, boost control installed taking the boost to 15psi, after getting the car back I was told that one of the coils was on its way out and will have to be replaced soon.

I drove the car around for a month or so and yesterday after driving it all day it wouldn't start at he shops, it would start for a second and idol at about 500rpm then die, I left and came back later after it had cooled a bit and tried again this time it wouldn't start at all, the car came home on a truck and this morning I tried it when it was stone cold and it fired first time.

Battery is fine and it is turning over fine so don't think it is the starter. Am thinking maybe cam angle sensor but wanted to be sure before spending the money.

Just put in the new CAS wasn't that the car wound over for ages before it started and then ran for about 30 seconds before it died and then wouldn't start again, will try AFM tomorrow, Checked the spark plugs today and all seem to be firing. Thanks for the help

or when it's hot and it won't start, try unplugging the AFM and try and start it... could be either:

- CAS

- AFM

- Dirty Injectors (car leans out too much to start when hot)

He's got a Series II so no ignitor

93 is not S2..

Allow fuel pump to prime for 2-3 seconds on ign before you turn key to start

Ok I have checked the car over a bit more thoroughly and found that the reason the car was dying was because there was no fuel being pumped to the engine, I went through and cleaned all the connections now the car starts and idols great but if i leave it idol it will die after about 20 sec, also when the turbo spools the car backfires badly. Any I ideas?
