It was an excellent event - big ups to Thien (sorry is spelling isnt right). Some nice cars, and some good talent.

IMO it did a huge amount for imports and drift in SA. The announcers were loving it, the officials were loving it. They kept on going on about how anybody who has ever owned a car know the joy of putting it sideways - and no one said otherwise.

It was also pointed out to the president of the Sporting Car Club of SA that Drift is the future of motorsport in australia! He was really wrapped with the turnout, as they probably have trouble finding people who get into Car clubs like theirs. Anyways the writing is on the wall and I hope they took notice.

Found out something else that is quite interesting, Mallala is open most days and you just have to show up and pay a fee to take the car on the track. Now that they have hosted a comp there, they may be more likely to let lads go and thrash their cars and get a bit of sideways action, as I have heard in the past they frowned on it. Might have to do some investigating on that one. Anyone who has any details please let me know, cheers.

I reckon if the guy in the VB had a properly set up drift car, he could well have gone to the last - he could punt that thing hard, really high entry and corner speeds - it was nuts.

Can only agree with slyr33, James was the best out there, consistant, linked every corner and his car just looked so damn good on the track - sort of makes me want to buy a silvia:)

4doorsleeper, I wouldnt have gone out for the girl alone, no matter what she looked like. She wasnt too bad, and a nice girl to talk to as well. The driving was definately worth going out for, excellent venue for it, they just need to stick a corner coming off turn 2 to the back straight so they can come across and link it with 4 - maybe throw in another couple of bends on the way:p Anybody who didnt go, missed out.

Steve i think you will find that mallala is open most weekends for practice where you can go out and thrash around for a small fee but not everyday. you can hire the track out and do what you wont but the cost is a little over the top

I was there talking to george and theo bout it. From wat i understand, u can book it for the day on a weekend. They have been doing that occasionally. There planning on taking there next car there when its ready and im going out there wit them to give my car a thrash.

I will c George and Theo bout it on tuesday and will c wat we have to do to hire it out, possibly make a SAU day there. :(

Couldnt of been better said chris, i look at other sa forums and all hey brag about it there sik drifting the previous night at various sa locations. Then ill look a few hours later and see, f**kin cops, i got defected etc....

Its a waay to often senario which seems the real enthusiasts such as some of us get burnt while the others keep ruinin it for us all.

I find this pretty rich from a guy who I have seen drive twice - once crashing in to a car while arriving at a dyno day (and didn't even offer to pay for the damage), and the other doing a big burnout on departure from the same dyno day, while residents were already out the front of their houses.

It seems to me you fit that very category you complain about, and quite well.

Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

Chops, i dont even know who u are, and Im sure u dont know a thing about me. Take some of ur own advice as im sure uve done somethin illegal once in a while.

In regards to Mattrs car, I did not Crash into him, i tapped his bumper. I apologised when it happened, and at the time there seemed to be no damage. A while after i found out that there was some and he had to get repaired. I had no idea at all about this and I apoligised again to him.

Dont attack me, u dont know a thing about me, otherwise bring it to pm.

now now be nice everyone :)

pretty true about the other forums, as my road I live on in particular has a few bends that are favuorites with a few drifters up my way

I wouldn't care what they did really, just when my neighbours think its me I tend to get a little annoyed

Commodore owners are the worst by far though, seems they can't do enough one wheeled burnouts at the top of my driveway. As I have pointed out to my mum and dad (as they thought it was me) Skylines leave two tyre marks not one :D

Chris

umm Dean - broke traction hey? .... *coff coff* there are around 20 witnesses now calling you a straight out liar mate .... you don't 'break traction' for about 20 metres then have neighbours come over and complain about it

.... and I think the rear bar respray for Matt's car was about $250 .... what is your reaction to that? He paid for it out of his own pocket.

And apart from when Chops saw you antics at dyno day .... he (like the rest of us) have had to put up with your post-whoring of normally absolutely useless posts for some time now and it is getting old .... this is all he has to base his impressions of you on, so I'd say he's not far off the mark :P

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
