Hi I'm just hoping for some input with the wheel alignment settings on my r32 GTR. I'm looking for the best compromise for track days, hillclimbs as well as street duties - mainly through the hills. Iv just put on 255/40 17 toyo r1r tyres all round on 33 GTR rims. Suspension is lowered king springs and bilstein shocks. I'm unsure of spring rates but it is fairly stiffly sprung. Everything else is stock suspension wise. It sits at 345mm front and rear measured from the gaurd to the centre of the rim. I realize I will be limited by not having adjustable arms for camber etc. But just want some tried settings to aim for. The car has about 250 rwkw and a fairly tight LSD ( recently tightened up ) currently it chews the inside of all the tyres but the alignment could be anywhere at the moment.

I remember reading a thread from sydneykid about this but can't seem to find it now.

Anyone who has some experience with this I would like to hear your opinions. Cheers

Ryan

... but the alignment could be anywhere at the moment....

Best to get an alignment. No point in us speculating what might be right / wrong with your setup. Scrubbing the insides of tyres is usually a toe-out problem, but it could be camber, which could be bad setting or shot bushes.

Get some numbers of how it is now.

Also, try contacting the guys at Whiteline for some advice re alignment settings (they have, or used to have, some recommended numbers for the 32 GT-R).

Cheers for the reply mate and the info about whiteline, i will look into that. Just to be clear I am getting a wheel alignment, just chasing some information regarding what camber, caster and toe settings to tell them to aim for. Hoping to find someone who has had success in finding a good compromise between track and street duties.

Thanks

I have a Stagea (different I know) with a similar setup - Bilsteins, TE37s with 255 40 17 tyres, GTR LSD. If nothing else you should try to get a heavier rear sway bar - it will make a heap of difference on cornering with no adverse effect on ride.

Toe in - you want zero front and rear with up to 2mm toe out front acceptable but none rear.

Castor - you want more than is possible without adjustable castor arms - I am running just under 6deg with adjustable arms so you want as much as possible with what ever you have. Short of new arms you can get eccentric bushes from Whiteline.

Camber - mine are set for the track with adjustable arms front and rear and about 3 deg negative (although there is no obvious excessive wear apparent so far). Again short of new arms you can get eccentric bushes but there should be little bit of adjustment available on your rears (not sure about the front) so you may be able to get 1/2 to 1 deg neg camber.

My set up works well for me on the road and on the track. I suspect it will work for you too but hopefully some GTR racers will share their settings with you!

Was trying to find some info on r33 gtr alignment. Got mine done on Monday but is feeling very twitchy on the road and pulls to the left. Going to ring them and get then to do it again but was hoping for some info on settings

still got hicas, car want to move left and right a little on bumpy roads, pulls steering wheel with it. like fast tramlining.

didnt get any results. going back in on tuesday to check it, will get results then.

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
