Is this possible can you make it to think there are 2 afm? I'll be using a nistune board reason for wanting a single afm is 1 I'll be running a single turbo and 2 I don't have much room to run twin filters. Im wanting to run afm in cooler piping as well and a single would make fab so much easier

I recall a thread from years ago, it was either getting a Single AFM on a GTR or 2 AFM's on an RB25, but there was mention of a JAP signal bender thing that could do it

Possibly a SAFC or similar.

Can't remember the outcome though sorry but I have a funny feeling it didnt work

Maybe a single AFM would work as is.

Wouldn't in normal circumstances take the average of both. So why not the average of 1 ?

Sort of like a single 02 in one of the 2 dumps ....

Just to qualify this thought. I dont know sh!t

and to add to this thread not being a smart arse - do we have a search function in this new version ?

Hang on a second... An RB26 ECU was able to start and run my stock R33, simple plug in job.

Why don't you dummies put an R32 ECU in it and switch a couple of wires around. Voila, single AFM ECU.

I mean you don't HAVE a RB26 Nistune yet do you Blake?

The last RB20 ECU I bought was $30

It will plug in, all you need to do is swap a couple of wires and you will have a single AFM ECU in the car. Simple as that.

If I can do it, you can do it.

EDIT: R32 RB20 and RB26 ecu's all use the nistune type 2 board. So you are really at no disadvantage to Nistune an RB20 board. Later if you decide to go back to twins you can just move your Nistune to the RB26 ECU and swap the pins back, making it twin AFM.

Ummmmm simple? Yes.

Would need a board reprogramme though

Hey Blake there is a member on here his name is kristafa I think he has a black BMW 318i that he put a 26 into when I spoke to him he seem to be in the know of dos and donts with the conversion

Not relevant to the post but in general still usefull to u

you can use one airflow meter and parrallel up the signal wire to both inputs on the GTR ECU to make it thinks it has two AFMs

the ECU does an average of both airflow meters, so it is basically the same thing

the device you might be thinking of is the later SAFC II that lets you manipulate the AFMs to either single or twin AFM on single or twin AFM car

that is, run twin AFMS on a single AFM car, or run single AFM on twin AFM car

ther other device you might be thinking of is the HKS VPC or vein pressure converter that converts MAP to AFM

This!

Isnt that the same thing? As joining the signal wires.

I have never attempted this but heard that it couldnt be done as the nissan ecu halves the value's for the afms.

But as u say if u join the signal wire they shoukd read the same any way

I was thinking that to just joining the signal wires I'll be doing the wiring myself and it's my first attempt at anything like this so having everything I need is handy I'll be doing it on Sunday I'll let everyone know if it works

    • haha this shit box doesn't drink coolant, for now       Let me guess, they make heaps of power, use the car for straight line driving and don't care about noise

    • Hello everyone. I've recently started the research into R34 GTR front bits and running into eye watering prices. On the plus site it looks like some places make 'replacement' fender liners for these cars. At eye-watering-but-less than stock prices. I also noticed there's plenty of diffuser options available too. What I would like to know is if my following assumptions are correct. 1) The OEM guard liners are actually only 'half' the liner. They go together with the OEM brake vents which are a separate item which looks to be quite a large 'panel' that is part of the liner. The GTR bumper has bolt holes along the front. I assume the ones in the vent correspond to the ones the OEM liner does not have (circled?)   2) The V-Spec front diffuser supplants the brake ducts in the above item. I am assuming these still work with the guard liners as there's no alternate part that I'm aware of. I don't see how they go together, so I'm making the assumption that they have to, somehow. I know the center splash guard is different on the V-Spec (and is the price of the damn diffuser alone). How does the liner interact with this? 3) There's alternate front diffusers that do away with it all. Annoyingly, a lot of the clones and CF different ones... have no brake ducts on them. I like the idea of them though. My brakes get hot on the track. These alternate diffusers are a lot cheaper than plastic splash guards. I'm assuming you don't have to/aren't supposed to remove guard liners to run a diffuser. I suspect that quite a few people actually do not run the guard liner because with a front undertray you're getting a lot of 'splash' guarding anyway, and most people remove liners given they're probably running a pretty aggressive setup with a diffuser at the front. It would also be nice to know if anyone has ever run the 'reproduction' guard liners and know whether the fitment is OEM quality or "OEM Quality". Example: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/356254671561 https://carbonetics.net/products/nissan-skyline-r34-gtr-plastic-front-wheel-arch-set Is this knowledge still around?
    • Really, effort is pretty low. You hand fistfuls of cash over to someone else and pick it up when done...   And at least this shitbox isn't drinking coolant right?
    • And most chargers that most DIY people own would put bugger all power back into the battery between cylinders. I've always done it with jumper packs/second battery connected. And that's on any car.   Because race car, and wanting the lightness.  At least in an R33, putting a bigger battery in can at least help shift the weight balance backwards
