Hi guys,

I first had running issues which i was told was the AFM had thrown in the towl. So i was able to get a Z32 AFM from a mate and said put that in.

when my tunner went to get the AFM working (using my licence account as he cant get his to work?????) he could not get the car to fire up, he said he tryed a few diffrent confiqerations, and even tryed a modded map for the z32 that he made as he says he has had heaps of issues with Z32 and nistune computers.

He also told before starting the z32 swap (and after loosing my tomie plug) he had the car running fine with the stock AFM, it just needed a good clean WTF.

He is strongly advising me to go and get a power FC (which i can get for $800) and even recons i will make up to 40rwkw more with the power FC then the nisute.

Somthing tell me he doesnt know nistunes quite well and is trying to rip me off, he says he has been in contact with nistune but they havnt been of any help to him.

For now i have said no tune (said he will have to tune it agan as just changing AFM on nistune does not work) and put stock AFM on Saving me $750

Any body have any input.

BTW Car is a 89 R32 with RB20 manual

mods, RB25 turbo @ 14psi, cam gears, walbro fuel pump 3" cat back, 3" dump, ADJ cam gears.

I currently run a R32 ECU + Nistune & Z32 AFM and we had no problems setting it up.

Also there is NO WAY in hell you can make an extra 40kw just by changing the computer from nistune to power FC.

I would be finding another tuner to be honest.

He obviously does not understand Nistune very well.

EDIT: Also just make sure the Z32 AFM is a real one not a copy.

But I am guessing its real because your friend has been using it?

Ideally you would have contacted your tuner way in advance of buying an ECU to find out what they're comfortable with. Sounds like this tuner doesn't know anything about Nistune and even if he got a tune working it'll most likely be crap. In Nistune it's a simple matter of finding the AFM resizing section, accessing the dropdown box and selecting Z32.. if he can't do that then...

2 options.

- Change tuner

- Sell Nistune and buy PFC.

he sounds like a bit of a tool. if he can get a PFC to make 40kw more than a nistune then he's a very poor tuner. tuned the same, you should see pretty much no difference in power between different aftermarket ecus.

as i said in your other thread, why did you use the z32 ecu? you can put a nistune in an r32 ecu (lists it on the nistune website). also if you or your tuner haven't swapped around the appropriate wires then you won't get teh ecu to work properly. the z32 ecu has a different pinout to the r32, not to mention that it also is designed for the VCT that the z32 has (which is why it is used in r33's instead of an r32 ecu, as r33's also have VCT, but the r32 doesn't). if your tuner has been using z32 ecus in r32s then that may be part of the reason why he's been seeing power differences to other ecus.

Not just as simple as that. Then u have to tune and adjust k constant to get it perfect. Most times just selecting the correct afm the car will hardly run

    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
