Hey guys, have been searching the forums to no avail for someone who has had similar problems that I am having with my r33 Gtr.

First gear is really hard to engage, same with reverse. And a little notchy throught all of the gears. Mostly like this all the time, I think temperature has a bit to do with it as well as when cold, still notchy and hard to engage but not as bad as when it's hot.

If I roll slowly (-5km/h) it pops into 1st no problems.

Master cylinder is full, visually everything seems to be ok. No leaks that I can see out of the slave cylinder.

Clutch started slipping a tiny bit in 3rd the other morning (gearbox still cool), could this all be tied in?

Really confused and need to get this fixed quickly, its my daily at the moment.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks guys.

No clue, I purchased the car a few months ago. Reason I haven't changed it is that I am doing the 100k service next month so I was going to get it all taken care of in 1 hit. This happened all of a sudden though, so I'm guessing it's not that. It was smooth a few days ago and now it's a bitch to drive.

Clutches don't slip if in good condition and nothing wrong, shouldn't matter if its cold or not ( unless its a full carbon, but thats another story )

Load it up in 4th and see if it slips again, could answer your question. also change fluid ( make sure you use the right weight oil )

Car is 15+ years old, could just be normal wear on box..

Unless you've had a recent fluid change, gears don't all of a sudden start getting notchy. Therefore unlikely to also be a gearbox oil issue, at least, that doesn't sound like the root of the problem.

The fact it's happening in all gears and happened all of a sudden sounds like it could be clutch related. Specifically, hydraulics...which change with cold/hot temperatures. Get under the car while someone pumps the clutch pedal and check that there is enough travel in your clutch fork. If it's lacking, bleed the system and check for leaks - could have a worn master or slave cylinder.

If there is plenty of travel in the clutch fork, then you may have a worn pressure plate or your spigot bearing is grabbing the input shaft and turning the gearbox even after you press the clutch pedal.

    • Hey guys I have a 2001 Nissan stagea vq25det, I don't have any engine lights and not really any issues running but I was curious to see if I could use my obd II scanner to find anything that was hidden and I plugged my scanner in and it just said "Low voltage cannot scan" does anyone know how to fix this or what this could be?
    • Sadly we have something in common, our Skyline's like blowing up electrically 馃槩
    • So, no videos, but, the FAB9 Elite manifold and 68mm Bosch throttle bodies are in stock, but, not the rear part of the air box The FAB9 rear airbox thingie is made with a 3" intake pipe, to suit the 3" intake pipe size of a 68mm throttle body  When they get some more in stock is currently unknown as I'm waiting for FAB9 to reply with a ETA on resupply, my assumption is they outsource their plastic printing stuff to "china", and with the current "tariff war" going on in 'Merica it could be on hold for an undisclosed time Should I pull the pin on the Intake and throttle body, and wait for the airbox?????, that's what I'm thinking... 1. Would the standard 2.75" OEM intake on the air box really be that much of a restriction compared to the 3" naturally aspirated?????? 2. If I don't get the 3" FAB9 airbox fitted at the same time as the intake and throttle body will it need a retune, when/if it eventually turns up?????? As I'm impulsive, to a fault, decisions will be made within....."what's the time now"???....let's say 12 hours......LOL
    • yeah its just so expensive nowadays and its easy to lose motivation very quickly when you start adding up the costs. I acquired the car from a collector in Melbourne and was lucky to get the opportunity to buy something already completed.  I looked at a proper resto and your paying over 300-400K for a proper one (nut and bolt) so this one to me seemed like a much better option! Car is in private storage and for serious buyers, welcome to come see it/drive it in person (photos don't do it justice).
