I think I'll start by doing what my tuner suggested, pulling everything off and checking for dirt or metal fragments. It might not be a serious issue yet. Once I've ruled that out then I'll start thinking about other causes/solutions.

In any case, the car can now sit in my garage for awhile and think about what it's done until I have the motivation to start stripping it.

Ill keep you motivated man! I dont think pulling anything off is really going to help as the metal would have come from the bottom of the manifold which means all the shit would be either in your engine or out the exhaust?

..Put the 2 pieces of manifold together, is it a clean break or is there chunks missing..Its cast alloy even if little fragments did make its way in the combustion chamber of would melt down and get spat out pretty quick I imagine..

Still,if you are losing compression something is seriously wrong in there. The head will have to come off at the very least

Try to get a bore camera down there when the piston is at BDC.

I rekon there could be a crack in there somewhere

I've got a camera if you want it Martin

Does a bent valve only binding up when it's hot sound feasible?

Ooh, that would be pretty helpful to at least see whats going on without pulling a heap apart!!!

I didnt THINK it sounded right, but i only did basic mechanics and didnt get to work much with these sorts of things, so i was really hoping NO for Martins sake.... but i dont know.....
