that sucks , why did they pull you over were you cutting lanes and drifting in and out of traffic?. 0.02 is for a reason you havent been driving for long and if i remember back when i got my p's even within 9 months I was still inexperienced and not the most confident on the road, its not about whether you know the road rules but how different things affect your driving, such as increasing your reaction time through alcohol . I was fearful of drink driving for about 2 years and didnt drink at all , booze effects people in different ways and while i feel for you being 23 and probably able to hold your liquour your still to inexperienced to have an inhibitor like that in your system why still learning the road.

this summons to court will that go on your record if your found guilty ? is it a criminal offence? i dont know how is that going to affect you later in life thats what i would be worried for , if it is criminal ask for a spent conviction . That sucks about your insurance too will make it hard for you to get it again with anybody!

he may have had a run in with the law over this drinking issue , But a lot of you have had your licences suspended for 3 - 12 months and longer for stupid speeds 200+ down city streets or highways

tell me what is more dangerous?

Personally, I find that I need to dump the 'chute about 100 metres before Milligan Street, otherwise I overshoot the car park entrance 'coz the brakes just won't hold her at these speeds!!!!!!!!

WTF? :bs!: Speak for yourself, pal. I have had my Skyline for nearly 18 months and not got a ticket for anything (I am sure there is time though!). Mind you, I am a boring old git who never gets it on boost. Perhaps that's why the back tires are looking a bit sad ...........

Cheers.

Crikey !! Is this Assh#le week?

Give the guy a break and save the holier than thou attitude for those who want to hear it guys.

Technically he broke the law yes but if he hadn't been on his "P's" all would have been fine.

It's not like he plays for the eagles and tried to outrun the cops.

he cant come on here thinkin we're all going to agree with him. imagine if u knew somebody who lost their life to a drink driver, u'd be pretty piped up about it.

outrun cops, hmm looks like its the thing to do these days. hmm wheres that killer gtr thread gone.

Mark33 :bs!: i saw some sau hills cruise pics of speedos on 180 etc. anyway i think controlled 180km/h sober driving on quiet roads is safer than drink driving. i saw a drink driver lose control on the freeway going speed limit on the weekend, couldnt keep the car straight and binned it into a barrier.

Well when i used to go on the rollerboyz cruises it was a pretty common issue of people getting caught after doing 160kmh in some 60, 70 or 80 zone. my worst is 11kmh over so control the lead foot pretty well.

But the drink thing is a touchy issue cause i've driven after only a couple drinks for the night like the ad says and i've doused it with alot of water and food so i'd be pissed if i followed the advice and then still got done for DD.

I'm told 0.05 you can't even notice it.

if i ever have to drive when me and mates go out, its 2 drinks max for me, thats what this guy would have had, but i know some ppl that after 2 drinks they are like i am after 10, so it effects ppl different ways, but thats the law, you have to abide by it, i do feel for him a bit cause as R34 said, if it were one of us NOT on P Plates, nothing would of happened......

BUT the laws the law

my 2c

  • 2 weeks later...

Good to hear mate that the insurance hasn't been affected. Please consider it as a warning as to how bad it could of been, obviously being a minute amount on your P's and all but i think from reading over your thread ya get the general consensus.

Happy and Safe driving and you will find as time goes on the $1600 will come down... well more than likely ....

Just car is very expensive though....

i got a quote for a pretty modified Gts turbo and and they didnt want much... i think it was 1600...

and im 19 .. just off my P's 30 % ncb.

no previous driving infrigements etc

and yeah for excess it was like 300 bucks or something. then on TOP of that... if i had mags... another 400.... and if i had bodykit.. another 300 ... so on and so fourth...

all up... if i had a prang... i would have to pay out roughly 2200 BEFORE they would pay anything... thats what i worked it out to be anyways.

    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around without a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
