I know this has been done to death but, the screen on my R34s sat nav continues to pop up with the blue screen of death. I believe the message when translated to English states "Change Program Disc". Do they exist and if not where should I go in Adelaide to have it replaced. I've heard that Adept Electronics may be the go. Cheers, hope I have posted this in the right place as I'm a newby :-)

Changing the program disk wont fix it , the disk its looking for

Is the dvd of maps for the gps which doesnt exist for anywhere but japan

Fix is use screen for a new dvd player with mods

Contact chris rogers in brissy ( audio express)

You can toggle the modes if the screen opens to see it

I found a cool 3 D animated Nissan screen saver on mine and a bunch of other worthless crap

Or do what i did rip the shit out and put in high res aftermarket

Wide screen and a massive amount of gear lol

Remolded the factory bezel so now its similar to gtr mfd display

In carbon fiber but actually sits slightly lower then gtt full open

the motorized screen is heavy as hell and low res NTSC format

And australia uses PAL for dvd disks

The factory stuff is rubbish and makes nice door stops

Mine is just sealed in bag in shed works fine and has all the options

Hi im new to this forum

You guys have probably heard this question over and over

I have a 98 R34 coupe with the nav thing in it. The problem is there seems to be no power for the screen and im not too sure if there has been a box of some sort somewhere in the car that supposed to power it. The control panel has power (lights up, can insert and eject disks and beeps). Can someone help to get this screen popping up and down again. I have owned this car for a year now and haven't really bothered with it. i looked in the boot and noticed a little silver box with audio/video plugs in it. Im not too sure if this has anything to do with it. I know it would be worthless having it working but i just like the idea of a screen popping up and down

Cheers

Does the button on the radio open it ? open - close ?

Either way there junk and fail easy , you can wire into it and use another radio to pop it up and use the NTSC format screen on most items , the jacks on the silver box can be used

Or ditch the lot like I did and use aftermarket everthing and redo the screen mount to stay up like GTR only widescreen 8" and streamline carbon fiber molded now , i use a multichannel video source amp to run different items remotely to a half dozen screens and cameras , looks way better now and uses exact nissan part mold so its still legal as long as your watching reverse cam or gps not the latest blueray haha

First problem if the screen doesnt come up a dvd wont fi it

Where are you located ? Your prob going to need special help interfacing and fixing or swapping the screen ? if the screen comes up and powers up but no display thats another issue

Nissan has crap solder joints and aussie roads beat them to submission ( cracking )

If you need a working one , mine is in toolbox complete unit

Your factory deck should be able to open the screen even without a dvd , they dispay km , time on trip and lots of other info besides dvd or sat nav? Even a cool 3 d nissan screen saver animation ( takes 2 sec to make one now lol but back in r34 days a lot longer )

take a dash photo if you cant open it to see what were dealing with ? And location ?

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
