Hi Roy, I'm heading up saturday morning about 7.30am from Southside of Canberra.

I expect a fair few from here as it's just up the road.

Weather is looking good up that way for Saturday. 18 and a sunny day

Well I haven’t driven on an airport run way before so was not sure what to expect but really disappointed on the condition of the run way. Starting on the worse section gravel everywhere, no chance of even using launch control pulled away from 1500rpm and still wheel spinning and wheel spinning into 3rd gear. Lose gravel down the whole runway and braking area was bad again with 2 large bumps at the end. Only did one run as I didn’t want to stuff my paint work with stone chips and damaged my front lip splitter on the braking area over a bump. I may be fussy as I try and look after my car but speaking with others they were not to impressed over the track conditions.

That’s my little rant....

From a spectators perspective the masses were very dissapointed with the organisation

The barriers were placed so far back you could not hear or see the cars.

Scoreboard times were not posted untl after the 4th group of cars had there first run

There was no commentating (at least until after the 4th group was finished) and even then it was Meh and sporadic

Our entertainment was the weekend traffic being pulled over by the police just outside the fence line which we could see clearly

I know how you feel battling for traction, I was trying to do it with a 2WD! It meant that I was not able to run my car anywhere near its peak power unfortunately, would have loved to have full boost in it from 3rd gear as it hooks up on the street and Cootamundra.

It is a great concept, it's a shame the surface was not better.

I didn't realise how bad the damage was until I changed my wheels this morning, the rocks made an absolute mess of my side skirts (looks like they've been sandblasted and fibreglass now exposed), wheels chipped real bad.

I'm not really too fussed when it comes to things like that, but I'm sure it would be enough to turn car lovers away.

Adam did mention hot-mix for the first 140m next year, would definitely make it more competitive, would be nice if they could extend that to 400m :)

Ultimately, it is runway racing. It is not a perfectly prepared drag strip. There will ALWAYS be stones on it, regardless of Cooma or Temora or anywhere else. However, we are taking steps to make the launch area MUCH better for next year with hot mix off the line to get the cars underway. We also received a lot of positive feedback about the fact that at least we made the effort to try and clean the start with brooms

Thanks for the feedback about the end of the runway. I spoke to most of the competitors at the finish line throughout the day. I asked nearly everyone who i did manage to get a chat with up there as to what they thought of the start, middle and finish, and the only comment was the first 100m was garbage. Most competitors mentioned that it was no worse than anywhere else. Again, Thanks for the feedback on the finish.

Good to see that there was a decent sized scoreboard there at all. We had a power supply issue for the modem from the timing guys

Barriers will be 70m closer to the track next year, so going from 140m to 70m away. This years distance was a requirement by our DSR Permit and track inspection, with the room to move closer if no issues this year

Correct

If you guys have any other feedback, please feel free to email us at [email protected]. The more we know, the more we can keep doing or improve if needed

Cheers

The stones were no where near as bad at Temora,Im not laying crap on the event, just saying it was bad.Alot of the cars entered are beautiful street cars and thats a definate turn off.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
