Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knows a place where I can grab 250GT tail lights and inner trunk lights to add onto the 300GT? Located in Melbourne btw

Here's a picture of the tail lights I'm after:

And this is the 300GT tail lights (pictures a 350GT but it's the same tail lights)

Thanks,

Yes, in case you didn't figure it out from the above posts, lights are not linked to model numbers, but rather model series. The lights you like are Series 2 - so ANY series 2 lights will fit your car. Be aware though - if you buy a set of the USA they will have no orange on them for the indicator lenses and as such are technically illegal here in Aus.

Oh okay, I thought the series 2s are the ones without the release ledge on the boot (the one I'm looking at), 2004 model 300GT.

Every 300GT I took a look at that's currently in the market no matter what year have the same tail lights.

Anyone know where I can source these Series 2 JDM tail lights from?

EDIT: Looked it up a bit more so late 04 models+ are the series 2s. No series 2 300GT in the market.

Tried looking around but I can't seem to find all the differences between Series 1 and Series 2 300GTs

Series one sedans had two boot styles (smooth with release on the inside near the TC button and the "doggy door" style) and one tail light style with the three lines of LEDs.

Series Two had on boot style (smooth with a release button under the left tail light) and one tail light style with the twin round LED rings to bring it back to skyline tradition.

Both boots and tail lights are interchangeable. A smooth boot does not mean its a series two

In regards to where you can get series two lights, Nuwan from import revolution has heaps of sedans wrecking and quoted me $400/450 for the set Including the boot lights.

Thanks, I actually just called him up an hour ago to check but he was busy so I gotta wait for him to call me back.

you could find them new on ebay at 250 each delivered from US (so 500 not including reverse lights). occasionally they pop up with orange indicator lenses, but most are sold with red.

I personally have the all red ones only because i reeeeaaaaaally dont like orange lenses anywhere on the car. with an orange globe the light comes out slightly orange anyway.

to get a full set of series 2 tails for under 500 is a bargain

heres mine with the all red lenses

ive disconnected the US spec side position light (only visible from the side). Indicators are ebay spec 21xSMD T20 globes in orange. im not sure if these are very visible when the car is in full sunlight.... shown here illuminated above park lights (not brake)

ive never liked the indicator being above the brake lights so im working on a mod to fix this ;)

^^ pulled the car apart today and turns out my globes were still the white SMD's.... bought orange ones but it appears i never put them in so did it today.

colour difference is much more orange when lit.

if its legal to have clear indicator lenses with orange globes, i dont see why red lenses with orange globes are going to be an issue, especially if you dont tell the inspector "LOOK - red lenses!"

some cars like toyota echo even have pink lenses..

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.

    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
