When I was removing my ignition timing unit the locating piece that connects to my camshaft had snapped off. Ive tried lining the timing unit up without the locating piece but now this damaging the timing unit. I need a camshaft for an 93' rb25det s1. I live in the Albury/Wodonga area and can't find one anywhere. People only want to sell me the whole head or an aftermarket camshaft. Where can I source a exhaust camshaft at the right price. Please help!!!

just went through a similar problem

due to my own stupidity I snapped the CAS keyway

my mechanic said he sourced a nissan camshaft for $400

so f*** that and bought myself a HKS one for a bit more

but before I did, I looked around at the wreckers here in WA and they were asking nowhere near that price. Dsturbd was offering me one for $150, pm him maybe he still has it.

and some wreckers were asking around $200 and one was asking for $380

Just make sure its the exhaust cam cause the inlet one doesnt have the keyway

and RB25 NEO have different camshaft alltogether

It is possible to set the CAS up without the key in the camshaft side - I've had the same problem for a year or so now.

If you look carefully into the recess where the key should be, you should be able to see where it has broken off. Just imagine that the key is still there, then imagine how the CAS mates, and assemble the CAS in place.

Yeah I've already done this for the passed month. What has happened though is the timing unit was mounted on a slight angle with spacers put in it. This slight angle has started to chew away at the teeth/cogs on the camshaft. Now the cogs has worn the timing unit slips and doesn't hold its position. I need another camshaft.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you  
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'  
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
