Im 19 and on my p plates in queensland which means i cant drive the gtr, but i want to buy one and do an engine conversion, rb20/25/30, can run a turbo if its under 125kw/tonne. Which engine will fit straight onto the 26's gearbox (changing bellhousing perhaps) or if i have to change it to rwd then what engine and gearbox combo will fit in easily, as in no need to do any mounting mods?

its worth mentioning i want to put the 26tt back into the car when i hit my opens..

any help would be appreciated.

suggest you get a cheap ass non turbo car(or low powered turbo car) till you get off your p plates, what you are contemplating can be done but its going to cost you and potentially mess up a nice GTR

all rb's bolt to rb box's but it isn't as simple as swapping motors - there's front diff and transfer case and front driveshafts to consider, then there is attessa system and so forth

in the real world its not something anyone would bother doing, your really wasting your time.

buy an n/a, learn how to drive, crash it (we all do) then buy a GTR.

good luck

at this stage, i think ill buy a gts4 r32, only low powered, can learn to deal wih boost and driving an awd car, pray to god i dont crash it and then maybe just find a rb26 and convert it, or just spend the money on a gtr, but to me, i dont see the extra worth in buying a gtr over the gts seeing as it gives you attesa anyway...

Always loved skylines but only just learning the modification side, sorry if i sound like a noob.

Your idea is not legal.

GTR skylines, regardless of series are on the restricted list (yes, even the new list). You cannot drive one regardless of what engine is in it, because they go by factory figures for power and use the VIN for the engine that's supposed to be in it. So changing the engine won't do anything in the eyes of the law.

Buy a non-turbo and non-import to drive as a daily and buy a turbo project to work on. Even if you get an import you can legally drive on your Provisional license, the scrutiny you would face from the boys in blue would make it extremely hard not to accumulate more than four demerit points and lose your license.

We need to make a commitment that the next time this thread pops up we WILL go with it, yes, absolutely you can do, we all did it ourselves before we had our opens. The stock ecu works, just plug it in, the swap can be done in a weekend with a couple of mates etc... Just once, you know it will be worth it

I dont mean to be a bad influence. but is this stupid rule that heavily enforced?

I mean is a cop going to know how much kw an engine is outputing?. I live in nsw (soon to be moving to QLD) and there are so many p platers driving sti's and gtrs its not even funny.

I saw one cop behind a p plater driving an evo and he didn't give a f**k.

I don't get it.

i'm in.

but tell them that you just use the rb26 ecu with the rb25 wiring harness with a rb20 engine.

seems pretty dumb in my eyes that people would willingly tell people it will work when it wont, the questions on this forum are asked because the person has a lack of knowledge, so instead of being a bit of a "keyboard warrior" why not be mature about it and let them know the truth...

was it a genuine evo, or just another lancer with a bodykit?

and regardless of whether the cops will pull you over, there's a good chance your insurance company will use it as an excuse to get out of paying should you have a crash

Nope full evo mr

turbo whistle and BOV right infront of the cop. not a f**k was given that day lol

I try to do this. You me bro, you me

Did I mention that with above mod makes it NA, therefore, totes legal.

Totes to the totes

Because people like you don't search

I would listen zebra, heard he has a short fuse, and gets heaps keyboard warrior like.

But seriously, dont listen to these haters, just go and do it and prove them all wrong

The butthurt.

It hurts.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
