that wouldn't be stock. no way. way to lean for stock. did you mean after safc? im planning on running 12:1 with safc...

thanks for the directions...!

5. I think inasnt meant that the dump he had did not exactly fit the front pipe he had. I don't have this problem because I don't have a front pipe and am getting a 3" one made up when they put the dump on (on sat. :)  ). When they make it up they can just make it to suit the dump - but he had no problems with it fitting onto the turbo. Anyway I think it was only a little bit off and the exhaust place would just cut your flange off and rotate and reweld to suit!!

ahh no i understand the difference between dump pipe and front pipe. i was on the understanding that the dump pipe and front pipe were the same things (wrx speak) now that i have a full understanding of the new lingo, i will most likely need a front pipe and dump pipe...

cheers, i'll be interested to read about your install and results post saturday!

1. I have posed and so has black33 pics of the dump pipes in this thread.

original (oem) dump pipes, not the arrow diff ones...

2. The oulet flange for the r32 and r33 turbos are the same, dont know about the r34 tho. If the r34 has the same turbo as the r33 then yes it will fit.

T3 afaik?

3. my stock a/f were runnin near 10.0, which is rich as a bitch!

yes, rich as - but this isnt too much of a surprise. could you send me your safc settings pls???

5. the outlet of the dump pipe to front pipe is angles differently to the stock dump so i had to get my front pipe cut and rotated to join the new dump, no dramas with that part anyway!

this wasnt the case with black33 then seeing as though you had the same dump pipes???

6. what r u doin sneeking around the vic section??!! hehe kidding!! :)

i know that i dont browse all sections of the forum ... in which case i think everyone is missing out on lots of relevant discussion topics.

i mean this thread for instance, had nothing to do with VICTORIA, besides the people who created it, ArrowDiff are located in Sydney and the topic of discussion is very relevant to everyone..."me no understand"...

firstly i have the rest of the system, 3inch front, high flow cat and 3 inch rear. blacks exhaust is the stocker!

as for me sending u the s-afc setting, that aint they way to do it man, u need to run it on dyno and adjust it according to the a/f ratio readings or else u r gonna reck your engine if it runs lean!

only way to find out if the dump will fit is to take your stocker outand compare it to the r33 1!

i just want to get a basic idea of where your pulling out fuel...

also, on the safc isnt there a function where you can literally cut fuel when you back off the throttle so as you dont get backfires???

well my s-afc setting basically start at 3000rpm with -3% and sorta progresses more and more - till 7000 rpm where its -15%.

as for the dec-air function i havent got it to work properly

WELLLLLL, finally installed it on Sat. along with a front pipe and had my cat opened up to 3' front and back!

Have to say though, haven't felt any difference - maybe 'cos the weekend was so damn hot here in Melboure - will have to drive it on a colder day and see if I can tell if it did anything.

u basically got a bigger exhaust and u felt no difference?

WTF!

I felt better spool from new 3inch exhaust before dump pipe was on

I always had a super dragger exhaust on there but only from cat back. On the weekend I only had the front pipe done and the dump installed.

I swear, if anything it feels worse. I get a flat spot over 4500 rpm when stretching 2nd and before when I took off hard in 1st, it struggled to keep traction but not anymore? don't get it?

the weekend was a bad time to test the car, as it was hot as a mofo!

u should come over and drive my car and see the differences, i can wheelspin my 255's at only 7psi boost even if i take off slow and then floor it all the way through 1st

I don't think I want to go as far as a PFC, too much $$$$$.

Keep me in mind when you sell the safc if I haven't got one by then (when would that be?)

What power increase (from where I'm at now) do you think I could get from the intercooler and from the SAFC??

i am gettin a cooler by the end of the year, then i will get my pfc.

For now if u can get a s-afc second hand for around $400 i would get it then upgrade later like i am

cool, will keep an eye out.

do u know where can i look for one second hand for $400 apart from our forums?

u can get em new from http://www.nengun.siteblast.com/

for about $520 i think, or just keep an eye out on here, and skylines downunder.

ex-static, 30kw from an safc tune? that's abit rich isnt it? was there an inherent problem before the safc tune? did you raise boost? any other mods that came with the safc install and tune? 30kw at the wheels? mygod... was it done on the same day and same dyno!? id hate to think how much power a new turbo gives you!

black33, you'll be very lucky to get a 2nd hand SAFC for $400, i've been waiting for weeks! best i've seen is $480. Noone will go lower than $500. At the end of the day, i think im going for a daughterboard for a couple hundred more and get access to fuel and ignition mapping and tuning.

as for choice between SAFC, i guess it all depends on what you want out of your car down the track? i guess you wont lose much on resale value with an SAFC but you've still gotta install, tune and then remove later on if you do decide to go PowerFC. i think in all cases, your best bet is to do it right the first time, that way you get maximum enjoyment, least headaches all the time...

theres on for sale now by white_r33 480 inc install... but i think nismo GTS-X has his eyes on it so u better hurry :D should be able to get 450 and u pay for the shipping which will be about 11 dollars something.

I'm thinking, maybe now that I have the full exhaust that they fuel ratios are really screwed and I'm gonna try gapping my plugs to 0.8mm. Am I on the right track, any other explanations?

I suggest u go straight away and get sum ngk 0.8mm plugs. Then get that s-afc and get the thing tuned, and u will feel the difference.

When i got boost controller put in and upped boost to 10psi it was missfiring upto with the normal plugs!

black r33 wind your boost down a bit and see if it help wind it down to 8 psi or so more boost doesn't nessacarliy maen more power then get the s-afc tuned.

franks here in melbourne we have had some very good results with the s-afc tuning 15 20 rwkw iis gain quite often.

exstatic doesn't need to jsut ify the gain cause most of us were there when he got the gains and saw them with our own eyes

meggala

Franks,

Same Day, Same Dyno, a little bit of boost. from .6 - .7bar

It wasnt just my car either Grim on these forums, had a good 20-25rwkw gain on the same dyno, same day, same tuner.

Great results can be had from an safc when tuned right! I guess it depends on your budget, and how far you want to go in the future.

    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging. Cheers
    • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
    • Luckily I didn't put in etch primer as I just found out it's not compatible with my body filler lol. Also just need to sand the panel anywhere between 150-400 grit so I'm in the clear there. It does say to not apply to soft old paint, I assume that means paint that is flaking, peeling, etc
    • @dbm7 and @GTSBoy thank you both very much! will give that a shot!
