just bought some KU21's for my r33 235/40 r18's and payed $390 all up,

what are peoples opinions on the ku21?

how do they compare with the ku31? i know the ku21 can be rotated so i can make use of the whole tyre and not throw away when it gets camber wear.

Just make sure when you rotate your tyres that you rotate them side to side so that they preserve the direction of rotation. Once a tyre has bedded in having been driven in only one direction, the belts in the carcasse take a "set". If you reverse the direction, the belts loosen up a little as they set back the other way, and the tyre won't be a strong. It's probably only a smal effect these days, tyre tech being worlds better than it used to be, but it's still a worthwhile principle to follow.

As to the niceness of the KU21. They are a very cheap "performance" tyre. Given you paid almost nothing for them, you have to be happy that they just stay inflated!

should probably clarify, thats 2 tyres not 4,

they are on the front and replaced some shit "hero's" tyres , to me these tyres are awesome so far

got them from bosman tyres company at archerfield, good service took me in straight away and only took 20mins and if your looking for fabrication shop theres one next door that ive heard does good work.

to compare cost the kuhmo21's are 190each , the ku31's i think are double that price, so they will only go on the rear for traction.

are ku36 the best of the kuhmo's? i need some really sticky tyres on the back, second gear refuses to hold traction... need somthing thats not noisy, thats become my pet hate..

I had KU21's up the front before.

Kumho rate them to be the same as KU31's but a more comfortable tyre.

Also noticed the tread pattern is less aggressive then a KU31.

are ku36 the best of the kuhmo's? i need some really sticky tyres on the back, second gear refuses to hold traction... need somthing thats not noisy, thats become my pet hate..

KU36's are a budget spec street / track race tyre.

What tyres pressures are people running with these tyres, the tyre shop pumped them up to 35psi which feels terrible, so ive dropped them down to 28psi to get some comfort back, teins are just not meant for aussie roads......

I usually pump my tyres up at 34 psi all round.

got a price for some rear tyres today, thinking about two options here but unsure

265/35 R18's Kumho ku31's for $265 each fitted and balanced

275/35 R18's Kumho ku21's for $165 each fitted and balanced,

im liking the idea of 275 wide for traction and looks from the rear.. but can i squeeze them inside the guards without looking like a 4wd? ( guards have been rolled already and coilovers, sitting nice and lowish)

current rims are 18X 9.5 30offset

I've got near new KU31s on my VY SS commodore at the moment. Pretty sure they are 245 all round

They are farken dangerous, wouldn't say I'm a great fan haha >_<

The car is factory and as soon as there is one skerrick of water from the sky or otherwise, traction control is constantly on :rant:

So much so that I'm actually turn it off it becomes that annoying. Even rolling on throttle from 40-5km/h it'll turn them :(

Given I've had 280rwkw in my GTS-R and that was pretty well tamed by RE001... Before next winter i think ill be buying new rubber

well thats a spanner in the works, dam tyres.. the tuner loved it though, much better driver than me , he must of layed some black lines 30-40meters long in second, :woot:

yeah those SS are very happy in the back end, will be my next car , very good value and competition for me at the drags, they all in the 12-13second bracket. :yes:

guess ill get some prices on the RE001's then..

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
