I have a Nissan GQ rb25/30 it's been rebuilt only with cast pistons and standard rods. I am chasing a new turbo so I can get some power from this motor. Also what injectors should I look at? The ones on there heaps of the plastic tips on the end of the injector have snapped off.

Have a read of the RB30 turbo results thread and see what people make with the different turbos.

If you already have an RB25 turbo you could consider getting it rebuilt by Hypergear, or you could get a GT3076 or read the Precision thread.

I just thought because its a 4wd it will be a whole different ball game. I have a stock turbo but I've heard the ceramic wheels are break past 14psi. The motors been fully rebuilt and I'm aiming for reliability as well as power. I plan on keeping the car

If Hypergear rebuild the stock turbo I presume (you can check) that they will use all steel wheels. If you want a brand new turbo the GT3076 would suit for 250 - 300kw.

There are a few sidemount injectors you could get -about 500-600 should do you. I have Deatschwerks 550 on mine.

Well don't have exact specs in hand, but heads been fully rebuilt so has motor just with stock rods and cast pistons. Would love around 250rwkw, is this realistic in a 2ton car without stressing things to much? Thanks

i think 250kw@the wheels will prob not go for too long with cast pistons and standard rods, but you can get a reliable 200-220kw out of it, i have a vipec ecu for sale 1000 bucks they are fantastic. and a t3/t4 600 dollar ebay turbo which ive personally used on my own cars and customers cars and on my 25 and 16psi made 234rwkw. so you dont have to spend lots of cash to get the result you need,

Okay we will go with 200rwkw. With that ecu mate will it have the tuning capabilities to pass an emissions test? The car was last registered as a RD28TD. The RB30 bolts straight up, gearbox and engine mounts. But ive been told it will need to pass an emissions test, because the motor is older than the car. Plus the engine will need to be engineered.

Cheers

Ive had a look around and im starting to get nervous to whether i can engineer this. Im thinking i should keep standard turbo and standard injectors for now and go aftermarket ecu so i pass emissions test?

ALSO I KEEP SEEING $3000 FOR AN EMISSION TEST?!

The vipecs are a great unit from what I've read I'm running a link G4 which is basically the same thing and my car runs better than it ever did with a nistune ecu. A fresh 30/25 should piss 250kw in safely! Just depends on the tune! I'm smashing 25psi boost down my stock 25's neck and making 336kw at the wheels and have done safely for the last near 2 years now. If you are only chasing 250kw just go for a hypergear or gcg highflow turbo as they are cheap, reliable and proven performers. Personally I don't think the kind of Ecu u run is Gunna affect emmissions it all boils down to your exhaust and tune Steer clear of ebay junk turbos as they are generally laggy and unreliable for the extra $$$ use a tried true performer that ain't Gunna risk ya freshly built motor. Just my 2c anyway

Another post but I've tried searching.

I've looked up automotive engineers in vic and found lots of people but I don't know if they are actually engineers.

Can anyone give me some numbers?

I've searched around and I Dnt think I will be able to engineer the car.

In NZ there is a website with authorised certifiers. You could try working backwards by asking the relevant authority (transport department - whatever it is called over your way [VicRoads evidently] and ask if they have a list of people authorised to "engineer" mods.

This may be what you need - if you look on this page there is a pdf listing VASS signatories - give your nearest one a ring and tell him what you want and he should be able to tell you if he is the person you should be referring to:

Hello. Here's an update. Rang the closet place. He said the conversion is easy to engineer. But the car will need to pass emmisions, that's the biggest problem. He said vipac do it and it's about $1000.

I've looked on the net and everywhere it says u can't engineer a rb30/25? This is so confusing! The car is a 1995. The rb30s where in patrols up until 1997. And the 25head is around 91-93. What is your input on this people? I've hit a brick wall

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
