Suspension/strut squeaking horribly = how to fix?

Recommended Posts

hey,

i got aftermarket KYB Suspension/struts on my r33, the back left is making alot of annoying squeaking sound everytime i go over any bumps.

How can i get rid of the sound - or do i need new Suspension/struts?

recommendation - anything i could do myself or best left to a specialist?

Checking the tightness of all the nuts and bolts is something I would do myself first. Just jack it up, stick some axle stands under it and run over all the nuts and bolts and make sure they are tight. While you are at it, have a look at the bbushes, wriggle them with a screw driver and make sure they are not worn (move very easily). The shock bottom bush is a prime suspect.

If it is load in the cabin, then check the top one as well, you need ot take the trim cover off to do that. I have seen quite a few loose there when someone has fitted aftermarket shocks.

Hope that helps

Do you have aftermarket tops?

i have aftermarket tops on my rear/front and they make a lot of noise due to the fact that they do away with all the rubber that the factory ones have.

So if you do have aftermarket tops, and they aint got any rubber, then there is nothing you can do (like me)

It's not so bad after a while. I've gotten used to it.
