Have had a K&N oil filter for 18 months with no problems. Unless you put way too much oil on would not be a problem, seems to just be an easy thing to blame for other problems. Some stuff just gets repeated without direct evidence or experience. We all do it from time to time i guess.

Doesn't hurt to occasionally clean the AFM still never noticed any difference after doing so.

I have, the afm will drift if oil and dust stick to the sensor but the o2 will readjust to some extent on the stock computer. You are right, not much oil is required but they come soaked in the stuff from the factory. Cheaper and easier imo to just stick a blitz cotton one in.

I just run a ryco oem replacement filter and u can clearly hear the turbo whistle. Just remember to replace them regularly (every 20,000 kms max) . They're cheap enough.
